Bensumec 4LF Herbicide
Bensumec 4LF Herbicide
Bensumec 4LF Herbicide, manufactured by PBI Gordon Corporation, is a pre-emergent broadleaf herbicide that provides season-long control of broadleaf weeds in all major turf grasses.
This product comes in a 1-gallon jug, that should prove sufficient for both residential and commercial use. Bensumec 4LF has a high degree of turfgrass tolerance, which makes it a great option for golf courses.
Tools Needed
To use this product you will need a backpack, tank, or hand sprayer. A hand-pump sprayer would be ideal for smaller applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Remove leaves, dead tall grass, and other debris before applying to turf. Determine how much Bensumec 4FL Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Apply 18 fl. oz. in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. or a maximum of 6 1/4 gallons of product (50 pints) in 100 gallons of water per acre per year in 2 or more applications. To control crabgrass, use 1 7/8 to 2 1/2 gallons of product in 80-100 gallons of water per acre or 5.6 to 7.3 fl. oz. of product in 1.8-2.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For annual bluegrass control and other annual weeds, apply 9.4 fl. oz. of product in 1.8 to 2.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. or 3 1/8 of product in 80-100 gallons of water per acre.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water and then mix in the proper amount of Bensumec 4LF Herbicide. Next, fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining half of water and agitate the sprayer until mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the Bensumec 4LF Herbicide mixture onto your lawn or other area where you would like to control problematic weeds. Make sure to put the sprayer on a fan setting to get nice uniform coverage. Application rates may differ slightly depending on the weed you are trying to treat. Reapply as needed to control weeds before they emerge.
Where to Use
Bensumec 4LF Herbicide is formulated to be used only on golf courses (greens, tees, bentgrass fairways) and residential lawns.
Do not use on parks, recreational areas, or other public sites. Do not use in greenhouses.
When to Use
Timing is crucial when using Bensumec 4LF Herbicide . Since the product is a pre-emergent, it needs to be applied before the problem weed emerges, especially if it's been a recurring problem. If the weed is established, Bensumec 4LF Herbicide will not work and you will have to use a post-emergent herbicide.
