Avid 0.15 EC Miticide
Avid 0.15 EC Miticide is a popular miticide product that provides expert control of mites and leaf miners that commonly infest lawns or gardens. It is safe and easy to use.
10/05/25
Avid 0.15 EC Miticide, manufactured by Syngenta, is one of the most widely used miticides/insecticides for the control of mites and leafminers. It contains the active ingredient Abamectin, which is effective on both foliage and flowers and is ideal for a wide variety of application sites.
Avid 0.15 EC Miticide can systemically move through the leaf to ward off mites, aphids, thrips, and whiteflies. Avid is active in mites' mobile life stages (not when they are eggs). Although the insecticide/miticide is slow-acting, treated mites are immobilized after exposure.
Tools Needed
You will need a hose-end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For smaller-sized residential treatments, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a 4-gallon backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Avid 0.15 EC you will need by first measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length x width = square footage). Avid 0.15 EC can be mixed between 4 to 8 ounces per 100 gallons of water, depending on the type of insect you are looking to control. For a per-gallon application, the amount should be broken down to 0.04 to 0.08 oz. per gallon of water. For example, if you were treating mites, the rate is 4 oz. per 100 gals of water. For 1 gallon, use 0.04 oz. This would cover 1,000 sq. ft. of area. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with water, add the required amount of Avid 0.15 EC to the mixture, and agitate. Add the remaining half-gallon of water to your sprayer. Shake well to ensure the product is properly agitated and mixed.
- Step 3: Apply the Avid 0.15 EC mixture according to the labeled directions in the areas where you have pest infestations. Completely cover foliage. Treat stems and trunks up to 10 feet from the ground if spraying a tree. You can use a coarse spray, drench, or broadcast.
Where to Use
Avid 0.15 EC Miticide is meant to be only for Shadehouse, Greenhouse, Field-Grown Ornamentals, Foliage Plants, Christmas Trees, and Other Woody Ornamentals.
When to Use
Use this product if you recognize a mite infestation in your yard or if you notice flower or plant damage. This is typical during the spring and summer months when pest activity is very high.
Safety Information
Avid 0.15 EC is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep pets and children away from treated areas until the product has completely dried.
Special Considerations
Some plants are sensitive to oils so you should test the Avid 0.15 EC on a small number of plants and observe the sprayed plants for two weeks to see if they have been damaged before spraying the remaining plants.
