AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait
AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait
AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait is manufactured by Becker Microbial Products and is a granular larvicide that contains BTI bacteria to kill mosquito and black fly larvae. AquaBac can be used in any habitat without harming the local wildlife including any standing water such as tree wells, tires, downspout puddles, rain barrels, birdbaths, unused swimming pools, etc. After simply applying the granules to a target area where larvae is known to breed, the granules is eaten by the pest insect larva, killing them within 4-24 hours after ingestion. The product will deliver up to 30 days of continuous mosquito control.
Tools Needed
To use AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait, you will need a hand broadcast or a hand/drop spreader in smaller areas, or by standard ground or aerial dispersing methods for larger areas to broadcast the product.
How to Use
- Step 1: To figure out how much Aquabac you need, you will need to calculate the size of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply length x width to get the total square footage to be treated. To measure acres, divide the square footage found by 43,560. AquaBac should be applied at a rate of 2.5 to 10 lbs. per acre.
- Step 2: Load the granules into a spreader at the best rate for your treatment area and then apply uniformly over the water surface.
- Step 3: Reapply as needed every 30 days for continued control.
Where to Use
AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait can be used on flood water, roadside ditches, irrigation ditches, rice fields, pastures, woodland pools, snowmelt pools, tidal water, salt marshes, catch basins, storm water retention areas, lakes, golf course ponds, irrigation ponds, ornamental zoo ponds, ornamental ponds, ponds, water gardens, greenhouses, nurseries, and anywhere there is standing water.
When to Use
You can use AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait when there is a mosquito infestation, especially after rainfall. The product can also be used preventatively before rainfall or expected flooding in dry areas that are known to become flooded after a rain.
Safety Information
AquaBac Granular Mosquito Bait is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Make sure you stay protected when handling chemicals with proper PPE (gloves, goggles, face mask etc.). Avoid applying Aquaback in drinking water receptacles.
Special Considerations
If the water where you wish to treat is brackish, murky or polluted, or algae is prevalent, the broadcast rate should be increased to 10-20 lbs. per acre.

Q:What is the difference between this and mosquito bits?5/30/22A:I believe its the same product... just in bulk. We have used for years to control mosquitos on several acres of wetland. Seems to lower the population to decent extent. We apply just as the first flying insects start so show up around the farm (about 3 weeks before we would typically see mosquitos). Doesn't seem to affect frogs or dragonflies (very healty crops this year!)

Q:Is this usable as a soil drench to control fungus gnats in a greenhouse? What is the rate in gallons as opposed to acres? Thanks.7/8/18A:This product does not dissolve in water. BT is sprayed on ground corn cobs. Instead of a drench, just broadcast some aquabac on the soil surface and water in. I've been using this for the past few years to treat specifically for fungus gnats. THE ABSOLUTE BEST PRODUCT TO RID YOUR GREENHOUSE OF FUNGUS GNAT INFESTATIONS.
