Ancora Microbial Insecticide
Ancora Microbial Insecticide is an effective, eco-friendly insecticide that uses a naturally occurring fungus to target and eliminate foliage and soil insects, delivering OMRI protection on plants grown in greenhouses, nurseries, and other cover.
04/10/26
Ancora Microbial Insecticide, manufactured by OHP, is a superior OMRI contact insecticide that controls damaging foliage and soil insects on vegetables, fruits, and ornamental plants grown in greenhouses, landscapes, and nurseries.
It is not a nerve poison, not a synthetic chemical, and not a harsh broad-spectrum pesticide. Instead, Ancora uses a biological process called mycosis to attack insects. When Ancora Microbial Insecticide spores land on a target pest, they attach to the insect’s cuticle and the fungus penetrates the body, feeding internally and disrupting essential functions; the pest becomes sluggish, stops feeding, and eventually dies, and under the right conditions the spores can even spread to nearby insects for extended control.
Ancora Microbial Insecticide is a dependable and grower-friendly biological insecticide available to growers, landscapers, and pest professionals today. By using naturally occurring fungal spores to target and infect harmful soft-bodied insects, Ancora delivers reliable control without the risks, residues, or resistance challenges associated with traditional chemicals.
Tools Needed
Make applications with pressurized spray equipment (such as backpack sprayer, tractor-mounted spray boom, hand-held spray gun or wand) mist-blower, cold fogger, electrostatic, or chemigation.
How to Use
- Step 1: Mix Ancora Microbial Insecticide in clean water at a rate of 14 to 28 ounces of product per 100 gallons of water. For drench applications, apply 4 fluid ounces of product per pot for pots up to 6” diameter, or 8 fl. oz. for pots up to 12” diameter. For pots larger than 12” in diameter, apply 1 pint of drench per pot.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the product is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray sufficient volume to achieve thorough coverage of leaves, flowers, fruit, and other above-ground plant parts with minimal run-off. Repeat applications at 3 to 10 day intervals over 2 to 3 weeks or as needed to maintain control.
Where to Use
For use on ornamental plants (foliage and flowering plants, cut flowers, greens, shrubs), herbs, spices, vegetables, melons, strawberries, tobacco, and other food crops raised to harvest or for commercial resale, and nursery stock, (including bearing and nonbearing fruit trees and grapevines) including crops grown hydroponically.
When to Use
Apply Ancora Microbial Insecticide when pests first appear and continue applications every 3 to 10 days over a 2–3 week period or as needed to maintain control. It is most effective when applications are initiated just before or at the first signs that target pests are present.
Safety Information
Ancora Microbial Insecticide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area until 4 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
This product is most effective when relative humidity is 80% or higher for 8 to 10 hours. Watering walkways, operating sprinklers, misters or cooling pads or irrigating will increase humidity levels. Application at times of low air movement and moderate temperature (70 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit) will reduce drying conditions and maintain the effectiveness of the fungus.
