Alligare Mainline Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is a specially formulated non-selective herbicide that offers total kill over a broad-spectrum of weeds.
Effective on problematic weeds like dogfennel and pigweeds in both their pre and post-emergent stages with its multiple active ingredients and two modes of action.
Alligare Mainline Herbicide offers quick burndown of weeds upon contact and offers flexible application rates for individual spot treatments or total bare ground control.
Tools Needed
To use Alligare Mainline Herbicide, you will need to use a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, spray rig, or helicopter.
How to Use

- Step 1: Determine how much Alligare Mainline Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For broadcast applications, use 16-24 fl. oz. of Alligare Mainline Herbicide in 10 gallons of water per acre. For spot treatments in bareground or total vegetation, use .55 fl. oz. of product with 0.25-0.5% v/v methylated seed oil (MSO) per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not apply more than 0.55 fl. oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. or apply more than 24 fl. oz. of product per acre per year per application. Do not make more than one application per year.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add the measured amount of Alligare Mainline Herbicide while agitating the tank. Pour in the remaining half of water and shake until the solution is mixed.
- Step 3: Spray Alligare Mainline Herbicide directly to the soil surface for pre-emergent weed control or to the top and bottom of desired weeds until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Avoid the spray from contacting desired plant species. Water with 1/2 inch of irrigation when 2-3 weeks have passed after the first application.
Apply Alligare Mainline Herbicide to non-crop sites including rights/of way, roadsides, highway medians, railroad crossings, industrial and utility plant sites, utility substations, petroleum tank farms, pumping installations, non-agricultural fence rows, storage areas, nonirrigation ditch banks, and airports.
Do not apply this product within 300 feet of non-dormant pome or stone fruit crops. This product may also not be used on nursery, orchard, ornamental plantings, new plantings, seedling trees or fiber farms.
When to Use
Use Alligare Mainline Herbicide when the soil is dry for pre-emergent applications or when weeds are present and not suffering from drought, excessive water and extremes in temperature or disease activity.
Do not apply when rainfall is expected to occur 48 hours after application.
Safety Information
Alligare Mainline Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of treated areas until the sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Direct application of Alligare Mainline Herbicide to the foliage of certain desirable brush species and ornamentals could lead to injury.

| Keith's Pro Tips | "If making a fall application of Alligare Mainline Herbicide, delay the application until after leaves have begun to senesce or drop to avoid potential foliar injury to tree and brush species. Fall applications can be made to conifer species as they are generally tolerant to this product." |
| Product Drawbacks | Postemergence control of Alligare Mainline Herbicide may be more effective with certain weed species, and may not control mature, stressed or hardened off weeds that are not actively growing at the time of application. |
