Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is a effective copper-based aquatic herbicide and algaecide that controls 3 types of algae and aquatic plants in lakes, ponds, and fish hatcheries. 

Targets and prevents the precipitation of copper with carbonates and bicarbonates in the water allowing it to control a broad range of algae and other submersed aquatic weeds like hydrilla despite current water conditions. 

Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide is a rapid-response, contact algaecide and herbicide that will clear up waters and ensures safe water activities like swimming, livestock watering, and irrigation of turf. 

Tools Needed

To use Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide, you will need to use a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, water pump equipment, or large tank sprayers. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Measure the size and depth of body of water to determine how much Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide you will need. To determine acre-feet volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the waterbody, and then divide by 43,560 (length x width x depth / 43,560 = acre-feet). For surface spraying/injection in slow-flowing or quiescent water bodies algaecide applications, use 1.2 gallons of Alligae Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide per acre-ft for low applications. For high applications during surface spraying/injection in slow-flowing or quiescent water bodies algaecide applications, use 3.0 gallons of product per acre-ft. Refer to the labe for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: When tank mixing, fill the sprayer with half the amount of water then add the measured amount of Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide. Pour in the remaining half of water and shake until well-mixed. 
• Step 3: Apply Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide treatment along the shore and proceed outwards in bands to allow fish to move into untreated areas. Do not make applications less than 14 days apart. No more than 1/2 of the water body may be treated at one time.

Where to Use

Use Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide in lakes; potable water reservoirs; farm, fire, fish, fish hatcheries and raceways; crop and non-crop irrigation, conveyance systems (ditches, canals and laterals). 

Do not use in waters containing Koi and hybrid goldfish. Not intended for use in small volume, garden pond systems.

When to Use

Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide should be used when algae and weeds are present on days when water temperatures are at least 60 degrees Fahrenheit. 

In water areas where freezes occur, make applications 6 to 8 weeks before expected freeze time to prevent masses of decaying algae under an ice cover.

Safety Information 

Alligare Argos Aquatic Algaecide and Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Waters treated with this product may be used for swimming, fishing, further potable water treatment, livestock watering or irrigating turf, ornamental plants or crops after treatment.

Do not enter or allow others to enter until application of product has been completed.

Special Considerations

Application of algaecides to high density blooms of cyanobacteria can result in the release of intracellular contents into the water. Some of these intracellular compounds are known mammalian hepato- and nervous system toxins. Therefore, to minimize the risk of toxin leakage, manage cyanobacteria effectively in order to avoid applying this product when blooms of toxin-producing cyanobacteria are present at high density.
