Pendi-Hydrocap, manufactured by Agrisel, is an liquid pre-emergent herbicide that controls a large variety of broadleaf weeds and grasses. This product is an encapsulated, liquid formulation with an active ingredient of 38.7% pendimethalin.

This high quality, cost efficient pre-emergent herbicide effectively controls weeds and grasses from germinating with little staining to your property. It is ideal to use in turf grass sites, grounds maintenance, residential and noncrop areas to treat for broadleaf weeds and grasses like burweed, bluegrass, crabgrass.

As a pre-emergent herbicide Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap will prevent unwanted weeds and grasses seeds from growing, but will not kill any present broadleaf weeds or grasses in your turf. A benefit of using Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap is that it can be used on either cold-season or warm-season grasses.

Tools Needed

You can use a backpack sprayer or pump sprayer to make small to medium applications with Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap. For large volume treatment, use a hose end sprayer of professional spray rig. You will also need the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) like a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, waterproof gloves, and closed toe shoes with socks.

How to Use

• Step 1: Calculate the square footage of the treatment area to determine how much Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap is needed. To do this, follow the formula (length X width = square footage). Depending on the location and foliage being treated the mix rates will vary, refer to the label for specific plant species. Generally for warm and cool-season grasses, you will apply between 1.1 to 2.3 fl. oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. (3.1 to 6.3 pints per acre). Keep in mind for residential and sod farm turf grass, you do not need to apply more than 2.1 quarts (4.2 pints) per acre. For commercial or other non-residential turf grass like golf courses, do not apply more 3.1 quarts (6.3 pints) per acre. Refer to product label for specific application, location, and foliage as mix rates may vary.
• Step 2: In a sprayer of your choice, fill the spray tank halfway with clean water, add the appropriate amount of Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap based on your grass type and area measured, then fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water and agitate until well mixed.
• Step 3: Apply Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap to the target broadleaf weed or grass, making sure to continuously agitate your sprayer as your applying the spray mixture to the treatment area. Make sure to not spray your driveway, stone, wood, or other porous surfaces as this spray mixture could stain. If this spray mixture has made contact with these areas begin an immediate rinsing of the area with water.

Where to Use

Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap can be used on turgrass sites (golf courses, lawns, sod farms and other turf areas) and landscape ornamental maintenance areas. Such sites include, but are not limited to: grounds or lawns around residential and commercial establishments, multifamily dwellings, military and other institutions, parks, airports, roadsides, schools, picnic grounds, athletic fields, houses of worship, cemeteries, golf courses, prairie grass areas and sod farms.

Grounds maintenance in areas such as parking lots, driveways and roadsides, alley ways, bike and jogging paths, vacant lots, buildings, stone gardens and gravel yards, markers and fence lines, and mulch beds. It may be used under asphalt or concrete treatments as part of a site preparation program.

Noncropland areas such as railroad, utility, highway, and pipeline rights-of way, highway guardrails, delineators, and sign posts, bridge abutments and approaches, utility substations, petroleum tank farms, pumping installations, storage areas, fence rows, windbreaks and shelterbelts, paved or gravel surfaces, and established wildflower plantings where weed control is desired.

Bulb plantings, non-bearing fruit and nut tree nurseries, conifer and hardwood seedling nurseries and tree plantations for site preparation and maintenance. Applications can be made on, but are not limited to, plant species listed on this label such as trees, shrubs, groundcovers, perennials, bulbs, ornamental grasses and bedding plants. Non bearing fruits like almond, citrus, olive, pistachio, apple, fig, peach, plum, apricot, grape, pear, prune, cherry, nectarine, pecan, walnut english.

When to Use

Depending on your location, Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap should be applied the season prior before weeds emerge. For warm-season grasses this is typically early spring and for cold-season grasses this will be in the late fall. This product should be applied before, during or after bulb emergence of plants, but not during bloom.

For best results, Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap should be used before rainfall. This product will need at least one half inch or rainfall or sprinkler irrigation within 30 days of application. Otherwise, if Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap does not have required amount of water within 30 days then it will not activate and allow weeds to control rapidly.

Safety Information

Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap is safe to use around children or pets when applied following the product label directions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when applying or mixing Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap. Pets and children should not be allowed into the treatment area for at least 24 to 48 hours after application.

Special Considerations

For maximum effect, do not apply Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap at a height greater than 10 feet above the top of the largest plants.

While Agrisel Pendi-Hydrocap may be used on a variety of plant species not listed on the label, not all ornamental species or other types of plant species have been tested for safety. Before a large scale application, it may be best to have a compatibility test first.
