Vexis Herbicide Granular, manufactured by PBI Gordon, is a selective post-emergent herbicide formulated with a new proprietary active ingredient pyrimisulfan to deliver exceptional broadleaf weed control in both cool-seasoned and warm-seasoned turf.

The easy to use granular formulation eliminates the need to mix products resulting in reduced labor and faster application on wet or dry turf. Due to this design, the product also lessens potential for drift or off-target treatments helping to reduce inaccurate applications.

Vexis Herbicide Granular provides total elimination on emerged sedges, rush, and broadleaf weeds in established turfgrasses within commercial, residential, and golf course sites within 30 days.

Tools Needed

To apply Vexis Herbicide Granular, you will need to use a drop spreader, rotary spreader, or push spreader for the 15 lb size of this product. If you are using the 2 lb size, then you can apply the product directly from the container.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Vexis Herbicide Granular to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acreage). Apply 2 lbs of Vexis Herbicide Granular per 500 sq. ft. or 174 lbs. of product per acre. Do not apply more than 8.26 lb of product per 1000 sq. ft. per year (360 lb of product per acre per year).
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the proper settings as suggested on the product label. Load the measured amount of Vexis Herbicide Granular into the spreader. For the 2 lb canister, simply open the flip-top on the lid to use it. Notch 1 provides ideal coverage.
  • Step 3: Spread the Vexis Herbicide Granular onto wet or dry turf starting at the border of the treatment area at a steady pace. Then, move towards the center in a straight line pass until the turf is evenly covered. Close the spreader opening when turning to change directions or when stopping. To use the 2 lb size canister size, just shake the product out in a consistent motion over the weeds. Water-in granules within 48 hours after treatment. Postpone mowing until granules are watered-in. Do not retreat within 30 days of initial application.

Where to Use

Vexis Herbicide Granular can be used on cool-seasoned and warm-seasoned turf around residential/domestic sites, residences, parks, streets, retail outlets, cemeteries, industrial and institutional buildings, recreation areas, playgrounds, fairgrounds, athletic fields, institutional sites (including properties or facilities providing a service to public or private organizations including, but not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, museums, libraries, sport facilities, golf courses, and office buildings), non-cropland sites (farmyards, fencerows or fence lines, highway rights-of-way (principal, interstate, county, private, and unpaved roads): Roadsides, roadside ditches, road shoulders, road embankments, dividers, and medians; Industrial sites: Lumberyards, tank farms, fuel or equipment storage areas; Municipal, state, and federal lands: Airports and military installations; railroad rights-ofways, railroad yards, railroad crossings and railroad bridge abutments; Utility rights-of-way: telephone, pipeline, electrical powerlines, and communication transmission lines), and agricultural sites (commercial sod production).

Do not apply directly to flowers, vegetables, groundcovers, gardens or landscape plantings including ornamental shrubs or trees. This product cannot also be used on carpetgrass, dichondra, legumes, or turfgrass where desirable clovers are present.

When to Use

Use Vexis Herbicide Granular when weeds are actively growing in listed turf on days when temperatures are above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Avoid applications when rainfall or irrigation is expected to occur within 48 hours after application.

Do not apply to bentgrass mowed under 1/2 inch. To avoid injury to improved varieties of St. Augustinegrass or Centipedegrass, apply when night-time temperatures are above 50 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 consecutive nights.

Delay sodding, sprigging, seeding or plugging operations until 3 weeks after application of this product.
