Trimec Classic Broadleaf Herbicide
Trimec Classic Broadleaf Herbicide
Trimec Classic Broadleaf Herbicide by PBI Gordon is a proven and potent 3-way herbicide used for selectively controlling emerged broadleaf weeds in warm and cool-season grasses.
With 3 active ingredients, Trimec Classic offers increased and effective control of over 90 hard-to-kill broadleaf weeds, including dandelion, knotweed, plantain, and henbit.
Trimec Classic features a broad label and is ideal for use on multiple different grass types in various locations. With a low odor and synergistic action, Trimec Classic helps keep costs low while making application simple.
Tools Needed
To use Trimec Classic, you will need a hand-held sprayer or backpack sprayer for smaller applications. For acreage applications, you will need a pesticide spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much product you will need by measuring the square footage or acreage of your treatment area. Do this by measuring the area's length and width in feet and then multiplying them together. For acreage, take your square footage and divide by 43,560.
- Step 2: For cool-season grasses, apply 2 to 4 pints of Trimec Classic in 20 to 260 gallons of water per acre, or apply 1.2 to 1.5 fluid ounces in 0.5 to 6 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet. For Bentgrass, Centipedegrass, and St. Augustine grass, apply 1 fluid ounce of product with 5 gallons of water per 1,500 square feet.
- Step 3: Apply your solution evenly over the treatment area. Spray to the point of wet, not runoff. When making spring applications for clover control, it is recommended to use higher rates.
Where to Use
Trimec Classic can be used to control broadleaf weeds on ornamental and established turf in institutional, commercial, and residential sites. This includes but not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, museums, libraries, sport facilities, golf courses, office buildings, homes, apartment complexes, condominiums, parks, streets, retail outlets, and cemeteries.
When to Use
Trimec Classic is best used during spring or early fall when weeds are actively growing and not yet established. Apply on calm days when wind speeds are low to minimize drift. Avoid application when air temperatures exceed 90 degrees F, and during long dry periods unless adequate irrigation is available.
Safety Information
Trimec Classic is safe to use when applied following label directions. Be sure to wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and keep all people and pets off treated areas until dry.
Special Considerations
Though Trimec Classic is labelled for use in warm-season grasses like St. Augustine grass, injury may occur to the turf after application. Be sure to follow the label directions when making applications to warm-season grasses. Slight yellowing of turf will disappear after about 1 week. Do not apply Trimec Classic to St. Augustine grass during the spring green-up period to avoid further injury.
