Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide is a fast and efficient fungicide and insecticide that controls wood-destroying organisms with versatile applications efforts as either a dust, liquid, or foam application. Easy to mix and non-toxic for people and pets.
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide (also spelled TimBor), manufactured by Nisus, is a wettable powder that can be applied to various types of wooden surfaces and acts as a barrier to prevent damage caused by insects and fungus. The product contains the active ingredient, disodium octaborate tetrahydrate (DOT), which is a natural mineral salt that can be applied as a dust, foam, or liquid spray.
This easy to use product is similar to another wood preservative, Bora-Care. But the difference between Tim-Bor and Bora-Care is that Tim-Bor is used to create a surface barrier to wood for effective pest prevention. It does not penetrate wood, like Bora-Care, to treat already infested wood.
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide provides a residual effect that lasts for numerous years to control termites and mold from damaging porches, fences, and more. This cost-efficient product offers little to no threat due to its low toxicity rate and is almost odorless.
Tools Needed
To apply Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide via liquid spray, a backpack sprayer or handheld pump sprayer is needed. To thoroughly mix Tim-Bor Insecticide, a 5-gallon bucket, drill and paddle drill bit is needed. When applying Tim-Bor Insecticide as a powder, a bulb duster or electric duster is needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide you will need for your application by calculating the square footage for the area being treated. To do this, measure (in feet) and multiply the area length times the width (length x width = square footage). The application rate varies depending on the type of treatment method you use. For general liquid spray applications, Tim-Bor can be mixed in a 10% or 15% solution at a rate of 1.0 lb or 1.5 lb. per gallon to cover 1,000 sq. ft of wood surface area. For remedial or preventative treatments, use 5 gallons of liquid solution per 1,000 sq. feet of area. For Foam applications, the 15% 1.5 lb. rate per gallon with an additional foaming agent at a rate of 1 to 2 oz. per gallon to your foam sprayer. Dust applications can be applied at a rate of 0.5 oz. per square foot.
- Step 2: For liquid applications, add 80% of the required amount of water to the sprayer tank or bucket and then while stirring the water, slowly add the correct amount of Tim-Bor into the bucket (based on your calculations). For general use, we recommend adding 1 pound of Tim-Bor to 1 gallon of water. Add the rest of the water to the bucket and continue to use the drill and paddle bit to stir the solution until it has completely dissolved. Pour the mixed solution into the spray tank and begin applying Tim-Bor to wooden surfaces. For dust applications, add the Tim-Bor powder to a duster and close the top.
- Step 3: Apply Tim-Bor liquid spray applications on wood structures such as decks, fences, steps, sheds and other infested areas. The application may also be made by drilling and injecting the solution into the infested wood. As a foam, inject the Tim-Bor in wall voids or insect galleries. As a dust application, apply the dust into wall voids such as between studs, block voids, eaves, attics, soffits, etc.
Where to Use
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide can be applied to indoor and outdoor areas on unfinished and unpainted wooden surfaces only. Tim-Bor is ideal for use on fences, porches, posts, lumber for construction, building structure frames, wooden storage sheds, and other wooden structures that are infested. When dusting, apply in wall voids and other areas where insects have created galleries.
When to Use
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide is ideal for use by construction professionals, homeowners, and pest control agents. It is most effective when applied before water or insect damage occurs and beneficial to apply during construction so that the studs in the walls can be treated. It works best on wood with at least 15% moisture.
Safety Information
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Keep children and pets away from treated areas until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
The manufacturer states that Tim-bor Profesional Insecticide will last for the life of the wood as long as the wood is not exposed to rain or flooding. It will stay in the wood forever because of how it bonds to the cells of the wood.
Tim-Bor Professional Insecticide will not work on painted or stained wooden surfaces. It must be applied to bare wood. Tim-Bor Insecticide can be applied as a dust or foam and applied to cracks and crevices or wall voids where wood damaging insects hide. Read the label for further information on using Tim-Bor Insecticide as a powder or foam.

Q:How do I remove overspray from windows and trim?6/23/22A:It's not easy. Timbor forms a sort of hard film, but I've been able to get it off with scrubbing and soap and warm water (a lot of scrubbing).

Is that true or am I getting bad information? This is their video https://youtu.be/OawAzkZZx205/4/21A:I bought this product a few years ago and used it to treat bamboos. I did not see any green color in the solution. The product itself is white and wjen mix with water it is soluble and did not have any color. As for the powdery white when it dries,...none on my experience. Hope this helps answer your questions.
