10/12/25
Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control, by Southern Agricultural Products, is an easy-to-mix, organic liquid concentrate designed to target various types of worms, caterpillars, and gypsy moths within ornamental foliage and agricultural crops (such as fruits or vegetables).
This product's active ingredient (bacillus thuringiensis 98.35%) is a common ingredient found within nature and is used in organic farming. It helps users get effective control of caterpillars and worms within a week of application. Bacillius thuringiensis is highly selective and slowly kills caterpillars and worms that ingest it. It is harmless against birds, earthworms, and other beneficial insects and is safe for edible plants up to the day of harvest.
Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control, when applied to plants or crops, will stop caterpillars of any age and various types of worms, such as earthworms, cabbage loopers, and other insects listed on the label.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer or hand-held pump sprayer for easier application to crops or plants. For greater results, you will use a hand-held pump sprayer to easily apply the spray mixture to both sides of the plant.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the square footage of the area to be treated for the amount of Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control to be used. Do this by measuring the area's length and width and then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). The amount of application depends on the type of plant being treated. For treating fruits and vegetable plants, use 1.5 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. with 3 gallons of water. To treat ornamentals and shade trees, use 2 fl. oz. of product with 3 gallons of water.
- Step 2: To mix, take half of the water recommended in the previous step and place it in the sprayer before adding Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control. Then, fill the sprayer with the measured amount of Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control based on your calculations. Agitate your spray mixture until evenly mixed. Lastly, fill the sprayer with the remaining half of the water you previously measured.
- Step 3: Thoroughly spray the Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control mixture to the top and bottom of the foliage surfaces to ensure success. Continuously agitate the spray mixture as you apply the product. You must use the entire Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control spray mixture within 24 hours. Re-application may be necessary within 5 to 7 days.
Where to Use
Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control is best used in residential outdoor areas and gardens, including fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, and trees.
When to Use
Apply as soon as you notice an infestation in your fruits, vegetables, gardens, and crops. The earlier this product is applied, the faster you can control your caterpillar or worm invaders. Apply this spray mixture when rain and high winds are not predicted for at least 24 hours before applying it.
Safety Information
Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control product is safe to use around children or pets when applied per the label instructions. Always wear the appropriate protective personal equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product to areas being treated with the spray mixture.
Special Considerations
Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control is not 100% guaranteed to fight insect eggs. To prevent insect eggs from hatching or re-infesting, reapply the spray mixture 14 days after the first application.
