Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control, by Southern Agricultural Products, is an easy to mix, organic liquid concentrate designed to target various types of worms, caterpillars, and gypsy moths within ornamental foliage and agricultural crops (such as fruits or vegetables).

This products active ingredient (bacillus thuringiensis 98.35%) is a common ingredient found within nature, and is used in organic farming. It helps users get effective control for caterpillars and worms within a week of application. Bacillius thuringiensis is highly selective and slowly kills caterpillars and worms that ingest it. It is harmless against birds, earthworms, and other beneficial insects and is safe to use on edible plants up to the day of harvest.

Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control when applied to plants or crops, will stop caterpillars at any age and also various types of worms such as earthworms, cabbage loopers, and other listed insects on the label.

Tools Needed

To use Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control, you will need a backpack sprayer or hand held pump sprayer for easier application to crops or plants. For greater results, you will use a hand held pump sprayer to apply easily apply the spray mixture to both sides of the plant.

How to Use

Spraying Ornamental Vegetation

  • Step 1: Determine the square footage of the area to be treated for the amount of Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control to be used. Do this by measuring the area's length and width, and then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). The amount of application depends on the type of plant being treated. For treating fruits and vegetable plants use 1.5 fl. oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. with 3 gallons of water. For treating ornamentals and shade trees, use 2 fl. oz. of product with 3 gallons of water.
  • Step 2: To mix, take half of the water recommended in the previous step and place in the sprayer before adding in Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control. Then fill in the sprayer with the measured amount of Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control based on your calculations. Agitate your spray mixture until evenly mixed together. Lastly, fill the sprayer with the remaining half of water you previously measured.
  • Step 3: Spray the Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control mixture thoroughly to the top and bottom of the foliage surfaces to ensure success. Continuously agitate your spray mixture as your applying the product. You will need to use the entire Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control spray mixture within 24 hours. Re-application may be necessary within 5 to 7 days.

Where to Use

Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control is best used in residential outdoors areas and gardens, including fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, and trees.

When to Use

Apply Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control as soon as you start to notice an infestation within your fruits, vegetables, gardens, and crops. The earlier this product is applied the faster you can control your caterpillar or worm invaders. Apply when rain and high winds are not predicted for at least 24 hours before applying this spray mixture.

Safety Information

Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control product is safe to use around children or pets when applied per the label instructions. Always wear the appropriate protective personal equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product to areas being treated with the spray mixture.

Special Considerations

Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control is not 100% guaranteed to fight against insect eggs. Reapply spray mixture 14 days after the first application to fight against insect eggs hatching or reinfestation.

    A:You can leave it out to defrost naturally, but be aware that Thuricide BT Caterpillar Control may become ineffective at controlling pest activity. The same goes for if is stored in environments with temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

  2. Q:Can this be applied to the root area rather than spraying the leaves?

    A:Yes. It can also be injected into the plant near the base of the vine.. This will help with squash borers that feed on the inside of the plant. Be sure to dilute per instructions. Do not inject full strength. Hope this helps.
