Thermacell Tick Control Tubes
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes, manufactured by Thermacell, is an easy to apply insecticidal tube that provides a tremendous reduction in tick populations in a matter of minutes.
These biodegradable tubes contain cotton treated with permethrin insecticide, which is very enticing to mice for nesting materials. Thanks to this products ability to work with natures primal instinct within mice any ticks feeding on the rodent will perish. Most tick infestations or bites occur from outdoor activities so Thermacell Tick Control Tubes will gradually lessen outdoor tick populations over time.
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes ensures not only homeowners will be protected from any potential tick infestations, but also reduce potential diseases from ticks that feed on mice. With one tube you can eliminate hundreds of ticks per season without harming the environment.
Tools Needed
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes comes ready to use with no additional application tools needed. We do recommend wearing gloves to mask your scent from rodents.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Thermacell Tick Control Tubes to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For a typical home on a quarter acre lot, place 6 Thermacell Tick Control Tubes per application in an area no bigger than 5,500 sq. ft. Do not apply more than 12 tubes per year, but 12 tubes total are required annually. To treat areas as large as 11,000 sq. ft. or 1/2 acre, use 12 tubes per application. Do not apply more than 24 tubes per year. To treat areas as large as 22,000 sq. ft. or 1 acre, apply 24 tubes per application. Do not apply more than 48 tubes per year.
- Step 2: Place the Thermacell Tick Control Tubes flat on the ground in all brush-covered and wooded areas to be treated. Do not exceed the maximum distance of 10 yards between tubes in any direction. Limit treatment areas to those areas inhabited by mice and need not include mowed lawns or open grasslands. Position tubes so that mice have access to the open ends. For treatment of woodlots, place tubes in a grid pattern with no more than 10 yards between tubes in any direction. For complete coverage, apply tubes up to the brush-covered edge surrounding wooded areas. Tubes placed near thickets or rotting logs within the woodlot will be more effective than those placed in more open woodland terrain.
Where to Use
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes can only be used outdoors in brush, woodpiles, rock walls and flower beds.
There is no need to treat the entire property, only those places inhabited by mice. Don’t treat mowed lawns or driveways.
When to Use
Thermacell Tick Control Tubes may be applied anytime between April 1 and mid-September but should be applied at least twice a year. For best results apply in April and July just prior to the feeding activity periods for nymphal (May-June) and larval (August-September) ticks. Tubes may also be replaced when nesting material is completely removed.

Thermacell Tick Control Tubes is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.
