The Anderson's 21-3-8 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide, manufactured by The Andersons, is a premium, professional lawn fertilizer that feeds turf while providing powerful pre-emergent weed control to stop broadleaf and grassy weeds before they grow.

This dual-action granular product not only feeds the lawn but also protects it from invasive weeds with the active ingredient prodiamine. The 21-3-8 ratio is designed for strong, healthy growth. Nitrogen gives you that deep green color, phosphorus boosts roots (especially important in spring), and potassium strengthens your lawn against stress.

The Anderson's 21-3-8 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide is a superb two-in-one granular fertilizer and pre-emergent herbicide that provides powerful nutrition to lawns with industry-leading weed prevention. Like other Anderson’s products, the granule size is uniform and designed for even spreading, preventing streaking or patchy coverage.

Tools Needed

A handheld spreader, push spreader, or broadcast spreader.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much The Anderson's 21-3-8 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Apply 2.7 to 8.1 pounds of The Anderson's 21-3-8 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not apply more than 352 lbs. of product per acre (8.1 lbs. of product per 1,000 sq. ft.) per calendar year. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the proper settings, then load the correct amount of granules.
  • Step 3: Spread the product evenly over the soil surface. After application, irrigate with 0.5 inches of water to move the herbicide into the soil. A second application can be made when 60 to 90 days have passed after the first treatment.

Where to Use

The Anderon's 21-3-8 Fertilizer with Barricade Herbicide can be used in established turfgrasses and lawns.

Do not apply to golf course putting greens.

When to Use

Apply when turf is well-established and before weeds are present during the late summer, fall, or winter prior to germination.

Do not apply to over-seeded turf within 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer.
