The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide, manufactured by The Andersons, is a high-quality pre-emergent herbicide that prevents various grassy and broadleaf weeds from germinating in lawns, container and field-grown ornamentals, wildflower plantings, and more.

This granular herbicide contains the active ingredient prodiamine, which inhibits root development in weed seedlings, effectively stopping weeds from growing without harming established turfgrass and ornamentals.

The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide is a long-lasting pre-emergent herbicide that prevents weeds such as crabgrass, chickweed, and more before they germinate, ensuring a weed-free lawn, landscape, and sports field. By applying at the right time and following best practices, you can eliminate weed problems before they start, reducing the need for post-emergent treatments and manual weed removal.

Tools Needed

You will need a handheld spreader, push spreader, or broadcast spreader.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the turf, you will apply between 1.8 to 7.2 pounds of Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide per 1,000 sq. ft. For ornamentals, use 3.1 to 7.2 pounds of product per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not make more than 2 applications per year.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the proper settings. Refer to the product label for specific settings on your spreader model. Load the proper amount of granules after you are done calibrating it.
  • Step 3: Spread the granules evenly across the treated area, but be sure it is dry. Once the application is complete, irrigate the granules with 0.5 inches of water.

Where to Use

The Anderson's 0.48 Barricade Herbicide can be used in established turfgrasses (excluding golf course putting greens), lawns, sod farms, container, field grown and landscape ornamentals, established perennial and wildflower plantings, non-crop areas on or surrounding managed rights-of-way for transportation systems and utilities (including roadways, roadsides, railways, and equipment yards), facilities including substations, tankfarms, pumping stations, parking and storage areas, ungrazed fencerows, plants grown for cut foliage production and Christmas tree farms.

Do not apply to golf course putting greens.

When to Use

Apply this product before weeds are present during the fall and spring.
