Talstar Xtra Granular Insecticide, manufactured by FMC Professional Solutions, is an excellent product for treating outdoor insect infestations around the home.
Made with the active ingredients Bifenthrin and Zeta-Cypermethrin, Talstar Xtra comes in Verge™ granule form for better penetration into surfaces. It is dust-free and has a very low odor.
Talstar Xtra Granular Insecticide's added active ingredients and Verge™ granule technology help eliminate lawn pest colonies within hours instead of days and are labeled to treat more than 18 pests such as mole crickets, chinch bugs, crane flies, and most ants.
Tools Needed
You will need a broadcast spreader. You could use a push or hand spreader, depending on your preference.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Talstar Xtra Granular Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). For a typical turfgrass application, the rate of Talstar Xtra is 2.3 to 4.6 pounds per 1,000 square feet. So, for example, if you measured an area that is 3,000 sq. ft., you would need 6.9 to 13.8 lbs. of Talstar Xtra to cover the entire area.
- Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the verge granules into the spreader.
- Step 3: Uniformly spread the insecticide verge granules across your lawn; it may take at least two walkthroughs to cover the area evenly. Once the land is evenly covered, water the treated area to activate the insecticide.
- Step 4: Wait a minimum of 7 days to retreat. Treat periodically throughout the season every 30 days as part of an ongoing pest control program for solid season-long control.
Where to Use
Talstar Xtra broad spectrum control can be applied to lawns and landscape areas and to surrounding residential, institutional grounds, public, commercial, and industrial buildings, parks, recreational areas, and athletic fields.
When to Use
Use when turf pests such as chinch bugs, mole crickets, and crane flies are damaging plants on your property. The prime time turf insects show up is in the early spring, between March and April. It is also highly effective for treating dangerous fire ant colonies.
Safety Information
