Tools Needed

To use this product you will need a backpack, tank, or hand sprayer. A hand-pump sprayer would be ideal for smaller applications

How to Use

Spraying Surflan Herbicide

  • Step 1: Fill a hand-pump sprayer 3/4th of the way with water and then mix at a rate of 1.5 - 3 oz per 1000 sq ft. 2 1/2 gallons. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water and agitate the sprayer until mixed.
  • Step 2: Spray the product onto your lawn or other areas where you would like to control problematic weeds. Make sure to put the sprayer on a fan setting to get nice uniform coverage.
  • Step 3: Reapply as needed to control weeds before they emerge.

Where to Use

Surflan Herbicide can be used on residential and commercial lawns, industrial sites and on garden or ornamental plants.

When to Use

Timing is crucial when using Surflan. Since the product is a pre-emergent, it needs to be applied before the problem weed emerges, especially if it's been a reoccurring problem. If the weed is already growing, Surflan Herbicide will not work (unless on select weed types) and you will have to use a post-emergent herbicide.

  5. Q:I have a pecan nut nursery. The nuts were planted during November 2017directly into the soil. Can I use Surflan to control the weeds in the nursery by spraying it onto the ground on the weeds. It will come in contact with the young pecan nuts trees. The trees are still dormant with no leafs?
    8/16/18
A:Surflan is a preemergent herbicide, it prevents germination of all seeds and will not affect growing plants. I use it in March after the snow melt and it inhibits weed growth through July. Surflan will not effect your weeds but will prevent ungerminated pecan nuts from sprouting.
