Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS, manufactured by Summit Chemical, is a specially formulated insecticide that can be applied to residential yards containing desired foliage and edible plants.
This easy to mix liquid concentrate contains the active ingredient bacillus thuringiensis kustaki (Btk) 98.35%, which is a group of bacteria that targets larval form of insects or in this case worm or caterpillar stages.
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS is an ideal product to use for organic gardening since there are no synthetic toxins and can be used on the day of harvest.
Tools Needed
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS comes ready to use, but will need to be attached to a water hose for application.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. Do this by measuring the length and width of the treatment area in feet and then follow this formula (length X width = square footage). Fruits and vegetables will need to be applied with 1.5 oz. of Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS per 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Shade trees and ornamentals will mix 2 oz. of product per 3 gallons of water.
- Step 2: To mix in handheld pump sprayer, fill halfway with the appropriate amount of water, then add the measured amount Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS, and pour in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer lid and shake to ensure an even mixture. Hose-end sprayers will simply need a water hose to connect with the spray nozzle. Bend the safety tab down and turn control to water and press on when ready to spray.
- Step 3: Point nozzle of selected sprayer towards the foliage to be treated. Hose-end sprayer bottles will need to be held at level with the foliage. Spray leaf surfaces thoroughly, top and bottom, for complete control. Use all of the spray mixture within 24 hours. Repeat applications at 5 to 7 day intervals until pests are no longer active.
Where to Use
Use Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS on fruits, vegetables (through harvest day), ornamentals, trees, broccoli, cauliflower, collards, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, cabbage, celery, lettuce, melons, and tomatoes.
When to Use
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS may be used when worms and caterpillars are first noticed on plants when buds swell, but before leaves are fully open. Reapplications will be necessary after consistent and heavy rainfalls or 14 days after first application for dense insect populations.
Apply this product on calm, warm days when there is little wind and when rainfall is not forecasted 24 hours after application.
Safety Information
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or spraying this product.
Special Considerations
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control RTS will eliminate worms and caterpillar stage insects, but will not harm birds, earthworms, or beneficial insects, such as honeybees and ladybugs, when used as directed.
