Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control, manufactured by Summit Chemical, is an easy to mix liquid concentrate product that can be applied on edible plants in and around gardens and desired foliage such as trees and shrubs.
Containing the active ingredient bacillus thuringiensis kurstaki (Btk) 98.35%, this product will work to immediately treat foliage and cease feeding activity of pests such as bagworms or other caterpillar insects. It offers an excellent alternative to chemical insecticides as an OMRI listed product, because of this it will not harm beneficial pests like birds, earthworms, ladybugs, or honeybees.
Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control provides the same results as synthetic broad-spectrum insecticides, but has the benefit of being a non-toxic and may be retreated weekly without harming the environment. Unlike other chemical insecticides that eliminates all stages of insects, this organic gardening approved product only eliminates the leaf-feeding caterpillar stage of specific pests.
Tools Needed
To apply Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control, you will need to use a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, hose-end sprayer, or spray rig for large volume applications. For hose-end sprayer applications, you will need to use a container to attach to the end of your hose.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet and multiply (length X width = square footage). The application rate for fruits and vegetables is 1.5 oz. of Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control per 3 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For shade trees and ornamentals mix 2 oz. of product per 3 gallons of water to cover all foliage surfaces.
- Step 2: For either application methods, you will need to shake the product container before application. To mix for handheld pump sprayers, fill your sprayer halfway with water, add the measured amount of Summit Biological Caterpillar & Webworm Control, and pour the remaining half of water. Close the lid and shake the spray tank until solution is evenly mixed. Applications for hose-end sprayers will need to pour the appropriate amount of product into the container and then attached to the end of a water hose.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of leaves until wet on a fan-spray setting. Continuously shake your spray tank during application to avoid separation. Use all of mixed spray solution within 24 hours. Retreat heavy insect populations when 14 days have passed after first application.
