Sulfentrazone 4SC Select
Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is an effective soil-applied liquid herbicide that controls grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds in established warm-seasoned and cool-seasoned turf. This product will help to prevent or suppress germinating weeds for up to 35 days in residential and commercial lawns, commercial sod farms, and roughs.
Sulfentrazone 4SC Select, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is a selective liquid herbicide designed to suppress germinating and emerging summer annual broadleaf and grassy weeds and winter annual broadleaf and grassy weeds.
This strong formulation offers 35 days of weed control due to its active ingredient, Sulfentrazone 39.6%. This active ingredient inhibits the enzyme required by plants to produce chlorophyll. Inhibiting this enzyme decreases the production of oxygen in plants, which then disrupts the plants' cellular membranes, resulting in cellular leakage and death, ultimately resulting in the death of the targeted plant.
Sulfentrazone 4SC Select has a selective mode of action that guarantees the elimination of specific weeds like crabgrass without harming the desired foliage.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig for large applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Sulfentrazone 4SC Select to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, you will need to measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, divide the square footage by one acre 43,560 (square footage / 43,560 = acre). For cool-seasoned grasses, apply Sulfentrazone 4SC Select at 2 to 4 oz. per 10 gallons of water per acre. For warm-seasoned grasses use 6 to 8 oz. of product per 10 gallons of water per acre. You will need to apply a second application for cool-seasoned and warm-seasoned turf at the rate 4 to 6 oz. of product per 10 gallons of water per acre. Apply a maximum of 4 oz. of Sulfentrazone 4SC Select to creeping bentgrass. Do not apply more than 0.375 lbs. of product per acre per 12-month period. The 12-month period begins after the first application.
- Step 2: In a sprayer of your choice, fill the tank with half of the required amount of water, add the measured amount of Sulfentrazone 4SC Select, and then fill with the remaining half of water. Close the top of the sprayer tank and shake the sprayer until the ingredients are evenly mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom leaves of your turf grass and newly emerged weed on a low-pressure spray. Spray to the point of leaves being wet but not run-off. You may retreat dense weed populations when 35 days have passed from the first application. Second application for cool-seasoned grasses cannot exceed a total 8 oz. of product for the first and second application. For warm-seasoned grasses, you cannot use more than 12 oz. of product for the first and second applications.
Where to Use
Apply Sulfentrazone 4SC Select in established turfgrasses (seeded, sodded, or sprigged) within residential and commercial lawns, athletic fields, golf course fairways and roughs, commercial sod farms, right of ways, railroad yards, railroad crossings, railroad bridge abutments, highway, roadsides, pipeline, utility right of ways, guardrails, road shoulders, electric utility substations, pipeline pumping stations, around electric transmission towers, around distribution line poles and other areas where complete vegetation control is needed, industrial areas, fence rows, and other non-crop sites like production facilities, tank farms, storage areas, parking areas, lumber yards, airports, military installations, and along fence rows and similar non-crop sites.
Do not apply to ornamental beds, landscape ornamental plants, tees, putting greens on golf courses, or areas where animals graze.
When to Use
You can use during the early spring, late summer, or fall season to treat non-emerged weeds or when weeds are still relatively young. Spray on warm days when wind volumes are low, and rain is forecasted for 24 hours after application.
Sod production areas should be established for at least 3 months before being treated with Sulfentrazone 4SC Select.
Safety Information
Sulfentrazone 4SC Select is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
