Sprint 138 Chelated Iron
Sprint 138 Chelated Iron is a highly effective professional iron supplement that corrects and prevents iron chlorosis in nurseries, gardens, landscape plantings, and turf.
04/25/26
Sprint 138 Chelated Iron, manufactured by Basf, is a specialized iron supplement designed to correct iron deficiencies in turf and ornamentals, especially in challenging soils like alkaline or calcareous soils.
This granular product contains 5.2% ortho-ortho isomer, the highest available in the industry. This high ortho-ortho content ensures superior stability and availability of iron in alkaline and calcareous soils, making it one of the most effective iron chelates available.
Unlike other iron chelates, Sprint 138 remains effective in soils with pH levels up to 12. This broad pH adaptability makes it ideal for challenging soil conditions where other iron sources fail.
Sprint 138 Chelated Iron is your go-to solution for instantly reviving yellowing turf and plants, even in the toughest, high pH soils. With powerful EDDHA-chelated iron, it delivers deep, lasting green color where other iron products fail.
Tools Needed
A backpack sprayer or spray rig can be used. For applications without water, you may use a handheld spreader or push spreader.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Sprint 138 Chelated Iron to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage of the treatment area by measuring the length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). To treat roses and flowering shrubs, apply 2 to 4 oz. of Sprint 138 Chelated Iron per 100 sq. ft. For individual plants, apply 6 tbsp of product per plant for small shrubs and 12 tbsp per plant for large shrubs. For plants in containers, apply 1 /4 tsp. per 8-inch pot, or 1 /2 tsp. per 12-inch pot. For turf, apply 2 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed. For spreader applications, adjust it to the proper calibration then load the proper amount of granules.
- Step 3: For soil applications, apply directly to the soil around the plant root zone. For foliar applications, spray a diluted solution onto the top and bottom of the leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. For plants grown in rows, soil applications are most effective when made as a band placed in the soil at planting time, or as a side dressing shortly after plants emerge or after transplanting.
