Spike 80DF Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide renowned for its efficacy in controlling a wide range of perennial and woody brush weeds.

Its active ingredient inhibits photosynthesis in plants, leading to their gradual decline and ultimate eradication.

Spike 80DF Herbicide is effective dry flowable (DF) formulation, ensuring ease of handling and accurate application.

Tools Needed

Spike 80DF Herbicide can be applied with a backpack sprayer or spray rig.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Spike 80DF Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). General broadcast applications will use 0.38 to 0.75 lb of Spike 80DF Herbicide per 5 gallons of water per acre. Refer the label for specific application rates.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank half-full of water. Start agitation and continue agitation during entire mixing and spraying operation. Add the required amount of Spike 80DF Herbicide and allow it to mix thoroughly while completing the spray tank filling. If additional product is a liquid, add slowly while filling remainder of tank with water.
  • Step 3: Ensure even coverage with Spike 80DF Herbicide.

Keith's Pro Tips"For best woody plant control results with Spike 80DF, do not disturb intact plants by practices such as wood cutting, chaining, or burning for two years after application. Resprouting or survival of woody plants is more likely to occur if plants are disturbed before complete control occurs."
Product DrawbacksA very small amount of Spike 80DF Herbicide in contact with one feeder root of a tree, shrub, or other desirable vegetation may cause serious injury or death to the entire plan.
