Specticle G Pre-Emergent Granular Herbicide is manufactured by Bayer and is a reliable, high-quality pre-emergent herbicide that contains the active ingredient Indaziflam and delivers residual control of annual grasses, annual sedges and annual broadleaf weeds in warm-season turfgrass, ornamentals and hardscapes.

When applied on target areas, Specticle G can deliver up to 6 months of broad-spectrum control. For an easy-to-apply pre-emergent that provides effective results, Specticle G is highly recommended.

Tools Needed

To use Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide, you will need the help of a reliable granular spreader to broadcast the granules. You could use either a hand spreader or a push spreader.

How to Use

Applying Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide

  • Step 1: Determine how much Specticle G Herbicide you need by first calculating the square footage of your yard by measuring and multiplying your lawn's length and width (length x width = square footage). The typical rate for most warm-season grasses is 2.9 to 4.6 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. Specticle G application rates will be determined by the grassy weed you are trying to prevent. So, for example, if your warm-season yard measures 2,000 sq. ft. and you're looking to control crabgrass, then you would load your spreader with Balan at a rate between 5.8 to 9.2 pounds.
  • Step 2: Calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the appropriate amount of Specticle G granules into the spreader.
  • Step 3: Broadcast the granules uniformly using your spreader type. You may need to do two perpendicular passes to get a nice uniform coverage. Water the lawn afterward to activate the granules. Activate Specticle G by watering in with light irrigation or rainfall.

Where to Use

Spreading Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide granules on lawn

Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide can be used on turf; landscape ornamentals including residential, commercial, municipal, roadside, and natural areas; non-bearing fruit and nut trees in residential plantings; and hardscapes. Use Specticle G on established warm season turf in areas including golf courses (roughs and fairways), sod farms, sports fields, residential and commercial lawns, parks, and cemeteries. .

When to Use

Timing is key when applying pre-emergent. If the weeds are already established, the product will not work. Apply Specticle G in a single or split application program.

Safety Information

Specticle G Granular Herbicide is safe for pets and kids when it has been applied properly according to the label. Please be sure to wear the proper PPE when applying. For Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide, you'll want a shirt with long sleeves, long pants, socks, shoes, and protective gloves. Keep away from the treated area until after application and watering has taken place and the granules have dried.

Special Considerations

Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide will not kill established weeds. For that, you will need to use a post-emergent herbicide. Any cultural practices that will disturb the soil, such as aeration, should be done before application of Specticle G Pre-Emergent Herbicide.
