Sonar RTU
Sonar RTU
Sonar RTU is manufactured by Sepro Corporation and is an aquatic herbicide ideal for managing undesirable aquatic weeds for a year or longer. Sonar RTU comes in an easy-to-use liquid formulation that is applied straight from the bottle. Unlike other aquatic herbicides, Sonar has no restrictions for swimming, fishing, boating or livestock use, even immediately after application. Sonar contains 5% fluridone as its active ingredient and works by stopping photosynthesis, which eventually kills the plant. If you want to clear up your water body for recreation and improve its appearance, we highly recommend Sonar RTU for DIYers.
Tools Needed
There are no tools required to use Sonar RTU as it comes in a ready-to-use bottle that has a built-in applicator tip. We do recommend having gloves and long sleeve clothing before applying the product.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the amount of Sonar RTU you need by measuring your pond size and depth. The formula to follow is pond acres x pond average depth (in feet) = Number of Sonar RTU bottles needed. Sonar RTU is one quart (32 oz.). So for example, if your pond size is 0.6 acres x 3.0-foot average depth, you will need 1.8 quarts or, rounded up, 2 bottles of Sonar RTU. Consult the rate chart on the label for details.
- Step 2: Sonar RTU comes in a convenient squeeze bottle that only requires the user to lift the nozzle on the lid and squirt the Sonar RTU directly into the water. You will apply half of the total dose on day one then wait 21 days to apply a second dosage and apply a 1/3 dosage on the 42nd day.
- Step 3: Simply apply Sonar RTU at one spot and the Sonar RTU formula will disperse throughout the water.
Where to Use
Sonar RTU is designed to be used on residential or commercial ponds to treat American pondweed, bladderwort, coontail, duckweed, watermilfoil, hydrilla, and other labeled weeds.
When to Use
Use Sonar RTU if your pond is being hampered by undesired pond weeds that may be interfering with recreation and ruining the overall look of your pond. Apply when weeds are actively growing or are just starting to grow for best results.
Safety Information
Sonar RTU is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Please wear the necessary PPE (gloves, boots, long-sleeved clothing) before applying the product to your pond.
Special Considerations
Sonar RTU is a liquid herbicide and does not need to be mixed or diluted in a sprayer. Do not apply more than a total of 3 quarts of Sonar RTU per acre-foot in a single growing season.
