Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide
Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide is a fast, specialized aquatic herbicide solution that provides effective management of unwanted aquatic vegetation in various freshwater environments.
04/20/26
Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by Sepro, is a professional-grade, long-lasting aquatic herbicide that allows fast and predictable release of the active ingredient to control unwanted vegetation in ponds, lakes, reservoirs, and more.
Its active ingredient, fluridone 5.0%, is a systemic herbicide that targets a wide range of submerged, floating, and emergent aquatic plants such as bladderwort, coontail, and watermilfoil. The precision-release formulation maintains effective concentrations in the water column over an extended period, providing consistent control of target vegetation.
Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide is an effective systemic herbicide that targets a wide range of submerged, floating, and emergent aquatic plants within several days. This unique herbicide formulation is ideal for whole-pond or whole-lake treatments, offering season-long management with a single application.
Tools Needed
A backpack sprayer, boat, or aircraft will be needed for applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Before applying Sonar PR, evaluate the size, depth, and flow characteristics of the water body. To determine the depth of the water site we recommend using our aquatic site measuring guide. For a 45 ppb, apply 2.5 lbs of Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide per 1-feet of water depth. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: It must be mixed with water before application. Fill your sprayer equipment halfway with water, add the proper amount of pellets, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank and agitate well.
- Step 3: This product can be applied by split or multiple broadcast applications or by metering in the product to provide a uniform concentration of the herbicide based upon the flow pattern.
Where to Use
Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide can be used in fresh water ponds, lakes, reservoirs, potable water sources, drainage canals, irrigation canals and rivers.
When to Use
For best results, apply this product prior to initiation of weed growth or when weeds begin active growth. Application to mature target plants may require an application rate at the higher end of the specified rate range and may take longer to control.
Safety Information
Sonar PR Aquatic Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Special Considerations
Irrigation with Sonar PR treated water may result in injury to the irrigated vegetation.
