Solitare Herbicide, manufactured by FMC Professional Solutions, is a effective water-dispersible granule formulated herbicide designed for selective weed control of a variety of grassy and broadleaf weeds that commonly infest commercial and residential landscapes.

This easy to use herbicide contains two great active ingredients, sulfentrazone 18.75% and quinclorac 56.25%, which are effective in controlling over 60 different weeds while not damaging desired grasses if applied properly.

Solitare Herbicide is a selective post-emergent herbicide that provides a broad-spectrum control over various weeds on both warm-seasoned and cool-seasoned turf.

Tools Needed

Solitare Herbicide can be applied using a hand-held or backpack sprayer for residential applications.

How to Use

Selective Herbicide

  • Step 1: Determine how much Solitare Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure (in feet) the treatment areas length and width, then multiply the two values (length X width = square footage). Solitare Herbicide can be mixed at a rate of 0.367-0.478 oz. of product per gallon of water for 1,000 sq. ft. of cool season grasses and at a rate of 0.367 - 0.735 oz. of product per gallon of water in warm-seasoned grasses. So for example, if you measured a 2,500 sq. ft. area for treatment on warm season grass, you would need to mix 0.917 to 1.195 oz. of Solitare in 2.5 gallons of water.
  • Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with water then add the required amount of Solitare Herbicide to the tank based on your calculations. Replace the cap and agitate by shaking the sprayer. Add the remaining water required then repeat agitation until herbicide solution is thoroughly mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the target weed with the Solitare Herbicide mixture, making sure to get even coverage via fan spray setting. Wait 7-10 days to check progress and reapply if necessary.

Where to Use

Solitare Herbicide can be used in turf including residential, commercial and institutional lawns, athletic fields, commercial sod farms, golf course fairways and roughs, and other non-crop sites.

Do not use on turfgrasses other than those listed on this label. Do not treat pastures, rangeland, or other areas grazed or harvested for livestock forage or hay.

This product cannot be applied to golf course putting greens, collars or tees.

When to Use

Apply Solitare Herbicide during peak weed growing times of the year. It is best to target weeds when they are young and actively growing. Best weed control results will be obtained when no rainfall or irrigation occurs within 24 hours after application.

Do not apply to turfgrasses under stress.

Safety Information

Solitare Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treatment area until the spray has dried.

Special Considerations

Do not use a surfactant with Solitare Herbicide. Temporary discoloration of some turf types may result from use of surfactants so it is not recommended.

Best weed killer
This product works in killing weeds. A lawn care specialist recommended this product for my lawn and now only use Soltare. It is not cheap, but I find that it does the job.

Great stuff for broad range of weed control!
My yard was inundated with clover, dandelions, wild violets, and a few other random broadleaf weeds. I used a hand sprayer and mixed this stuff up and went over most of my yard. After a couple weeks i could really notice a difference. I could tell where i had stopped spraying because there was a line where there was still clover blooming and the rest of the yard had not one clover bloom or dandelion standing. The violets all wilted and I'd say about 50 percent of them died with only 1 application. I was impressed because violets are very tough to kill and usually take 2 applications or more. Overall, I'd say this is great stuff and I eliminated 75 percent of the weeds in my yard with only 1 treatment. I plan to treat my yard again this year and hopefully finish off the rest of the lingering broad leaf weeds. I might add that my turf grass was not damaged in any way that i could see.
