Soaker Plus Wetting Agent

Soaker Plus Wetting Agent, manufactured by Helena Chemicals, is a highly effective non-ionic surfactant developed to improve water infiltration and distribution in soils. It helps water move more efficiently through hydrophobic (water-repelling) soil surfaces and layers. 

While most wetting agents focus solely on dry soils, Soaker Plus is equally effective at improving water movement in overly wet areas helping reduce pooling, runoff, and shallow rooting caused by saturated zones. Once applied and watered in, Soaker Plus remains active in the soil for 25 to 40 days. That means it keeps working in the background to promote uniform soil moisture long after application.

Soaker Plus Wetting Agent stands apart from other wetting agents due to its blend of biodegradable surfactants, long-lasting activity, and broad-spectrum effectiveness on both dry and wet zones. While many wetting agents focus only on infiltration or only on water retention, Soaker Plus does both.

You will need a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Soaker Plus Wetting Agent to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For golf courses (greens, tees, and fairways) athletic fields, and general turf, apply 4 to 8 ounces of Soaker Plus Wetting Agent per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For curing stress problems on turf, use 8 ounces of product per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For seeding, apply 2 ounces of product per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For sodding, use 4 to 8 ounces of product per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. To make drench applications in ornamentals, apply 7 to 10 ounces of product per 100 gallons of water or 7 to 10 ounces of product per 2 gallons of water per acre.
• Step 2: Fill the tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is mixed.
• Step 3: Spray evenly across the treatment area, but not to the point of runoff. After application, irrigate to move the product into the soil profile. Reapply monthly as needed.

Soaker Plus Wetting Agent is for golf courses (greens, tees, and fairways), athletic fields, lawns, seeding, sodding, and ornamentals.

When to Use

It can be safely applied in the spring and summer, even when environmental factors may impact turf quality. It can be applied prior to the activation of irrigation systems.

Special Considerations
