Sedgemaster Herbicide
Sedgemaster Herbicide is a pre-and post-emergent selective herbicide used to control nutsedge and broadleaf weeds in warm-seasoned and cool-seasoned turfgrasses without injury. It is fast-acting with results seen within 2 weeks, and the ability to safely reseed after 7 days of application.
02/23/26
Sedgemaster Herbicide, manufactured by Quali-Pro, is a selective herbicide for pre-emergent and post-emergent control and suppression of sedges and broadleaf weeds, such as nutsedge, in turf and other non-crop sites without injury to turfgrasses and ornamentals.
This easy-to-measure water dispensable granule offers flexibility, allowing users to apply it as a spot treatment to listed weeds or as a broadcast treatment to treat large-scale areas such as acres. Once applied, its active ingredient, halosulfuron-methyl 75%, quickly eliminates weeds, resulting in stunting and eventual death within 7 to 14 days.
Although Sedgemaster Herbicide is designed to eliminate nutsedge, it can also effectively get rid of other broadleaf weeds in warm-seasoned turf, cool-seasoned turf, and landscape areas.
Tools Needed
This product comes with a cup for convenient measuring. To apply, you will need either a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, hose end sprayer, or a spray rig for large-volume applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Sedgemaster Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Do this by measuring the length and width of the treatment area in feet and then multiplying them together (length X width = square feet). To find acreage, take your square footage and divide by 43,560. Mix rates will vary depending on the targeted weed and treatment area, between 0.66 to 2.66 ounces of product per acre and 10 to 100 gallons of water. For spot treatments, mix 0.03 to 0.06 oz. of product with 1 to 2 gallons of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: To mix, fill your sprayer halfway with water and add the required amount of Sedgemaster based on your calculations. Fill your sprayer the rest of the way with water and shake to ensure an even mix.
- Step 3: Apply as a broadcast or spot treatment over your area. Make an even application, spraying weeds to the point of wetness, not runoff, with a low—to medium-pressure spray. Keep all people and pets off the treated area until dry. Follow-up applications may be necessary for fully established weeds.
Where to Use
Sedgemaster Herbicide can be used on warm and cool-season turfgrasses on established lawns, ornamental turfgrass, landscaped areas, commercial and residential turfgrass, and other non-crop sites including airports, cemeteries, fallow non-crop areas, golf courses, landscaped areas, public recreation areas, roadsides, school grounds, sod or turf seed farms, sports fields, landscaped areas with established woody ornamentals, fairgrounds, race tracks, tennis courts, campgrounds, and rights-of-way.
When to Use
For best results, apply Sedgemaster when weeds are actively growing and not fully established. Apply on calm days when wind speeds are low to minimize drift and when rain is not in the immediate forecast for at least 4 hours.
Safety Information
Sedgemaster Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying or mixing this product.
Special Considerations
When used for residual control of early post-emergent treatments, a second application may be necessary to sufficiently control later germinated weeds.
