SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer

SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer, manufactured by Sepro, is a specialized water treatment algaecide and water quality enhancer combination that actively improves water quality with every application, reducing phosphorus availability, minimizing suspended solids, and extending the time between treatments.

Copper sulfate has been used for decades to control algae and while it can kill algae, that’s where its effectiveness ends. It does not reduce phosphorus, improve water clarity long-term, address eutrophication, or prevent rapid regrowth. The result is a cycle where algae dies back temporarily, the water looks better, but the nutrients remain, and the next bloom returns even faster.

SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer, on the other hand, not only treats the algae that’s present but also reduces available phosphorus, binds suspended solids, and improves overall water clarity. By targeting phosphorus the primary nutrient that fuels algae growth SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer goes beyond symptom control to address the root cause, providing longer-lasting, healthier water conditions.

Tools Needed

Apply product by broadcast application, hand spreader, scoop, eductor, mechanical spreader, blower or other equipment capable of uniform application. Also, an aircraft can be used.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer to use by measuring the acre-foot of the water site. To find the acre-foot of a water site, multiply the surface area in acres by the average depth in feet (surface acre X average depth (in feet) = surface-acre). For planktonic algae control, apply 1.8 to 18.0 pounds of SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer per acre foot. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Load the granules into a hand spreader, scoop, eductor, mechanical spreader, blower, or other suitable equipment, or into an aircraft for aerial application, ensuring the equipment is clean, stable, and ready for uniform distribution across the water.
• Step 3: Ensure even product distribution over the target treatment area. Treatment of aquatic weeds and algae can result in oxygen loss from decomposition of biomass. This oxygen loss can cause fish and invertebrate suffocation. To minimize this hazard, do not treat more than 1/2 of the water body and wait at least 14 days between treatments at avoid depletion of oxygen due to decaying vegetation (excluding water infrastructure and constructed conveyances such as drainage canals, ditches and pipelines or intakes and aqueducts for drinking water or irrigation use). Begin treatment along the shore and proceed outwards in bands to allow fish to move into untreated areas.

Where to Use

SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer can be used in aquatic sites including: ponds, lakes, reservoirs, irrigation and drainage canals, laterals and ditches, flooded rice fields, aquaculture, man-made water features, livestock watering basins, and potable water systems.

When to Use

For best results, apply this product as soon as the algae begin active growth or noticeably interfere with water delivery.

Safety Information

SeClear G Aquatic Algaecide & Water Quality Enhancer is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product. 

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until 48 hours have passed after application.

Special Considerations

Treatment with this product will not by itself make water potable. For applications in waters destined for use as drinking water, those waters must receive additional and separate potable water treatment.
