Rometsol Herbicide, manufactured by Sipcam Agro USA, is a highly selective dispersable granule herbicide that controls over 75 different weed species in native grass areas, rangelands, and pastures.

This easy to use product contains Metsulfuron-methyl 60.0%, which proves efficient in removing broadleaf weeds like sedge and other grass weeds like ryegrass in wide range of sites.

Rometsol Herbicide is a flexible post-emergent product that provides results in low dosages of annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds within a few wees of application.

Tools Needed

To use Rometsol Herbicide, you will need to mix the product into a high-volume sprayer of your choosing such as a professional pesticide spraying rig, backpack sprayer, or knapsack sprayer.

How to Use

Spray Rig

  • Step 1: Determine how much Rometsol Herbicide to use by measuring square footage of the treatment area. To do to this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the weed, use 1/4 (0.25) to 1 fl. oz. of Rometsol Herbicide in 100 gallons of water per acre of ornamental turf. For native grass sites with soils consisting of a pH that is 7.5 or less, apply 1/2 to 2 oz. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre. For rangelands and pastures, use 1/10 to 1 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water per acre depending on the weed being treated. For spot applications in pastures and rangelands, use 1 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water, plus 1/2 pint of surfactant per 100 gallons of spray solution. Do not apply more than 4 ounces of product per acre per year. Do not use more than 1/10 ounce per acre of product for grass establishment of native grasses. Do not exceed 1 2/3 oz. of product per acre per year for rangelands and pastures. Refer to the label for specific application rate and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, and add the measured amount of Rometsol Herbicide. Agitate the tank for at least 5 minutes and until the product has fully dispersed before pouring the remaining half of water into the tank. If needed, add the surfactant last to the spray mixture and agitate once last time.
  • Step 3: Spray the target weed with Rometsol Herbicide, making sure to get even coverage via fan spray setting. Check back after 4 weeks and reapply according to the label if necessary.

Where to Use

Rometsol 60DF is recommended for the control of annual and perennial weeds and unwanted woody plants on private, public and military lands, on rights-of-way, industrial sites, non-crop areas, ditchbanks of dry drainage ditches, certain types of unimproved turf grass, and conifer and hardwood plantations, including grazed areas on these sites.

Ornamental turf, such as lawns, parks, cemeteries, and golf courses (fairways, aprons, tees and roughs) may be treated with this product. This product may also be used on sod farms.

Do not use on Bahiagrass where it is the desired turf, as severe injury may result.

When to Use

Applications of Rometsol Herbicide can be made at any time of the year as long as weeds are at least 2 to 3 inches in size and the soil is not frozen. Cool-seasoned turf can only be treated when it is not under stressed and temperatures are below 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Do not apply to turf less than 1 year old.

Do not plant ornamentals such as shrubs and trees in treated areas for at least 1 year after the last application, or bedding plants for at least 2 years

Safety Information

Rometsol Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

  3. Q:I live in North Carolina between Raleigh and Fayetteville. I need to mix Rometsol Herbicide to kill Henbit (purple flower with square stem). If I have 1/10 of an ounce of Rometsol Herbicide, what is the least and most amount of water in gallons and the most amount (weakest) I need to mix it with and what is the best approximate date to apply it? The Henbit is growing like crazy right now in February.
    2/26/24
A:You can use Rometsol Herbicide at any time of the year as long as the weed like henbit is 2 to 3 inches in size. If henbit is on a cool-seasoned turf then avoid applications when temperatures are above 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The size of your treatment area and the location will determine the rate to use. For example, to remove henbit in ornamental turf, use 0.33 to 0.5 oz. of product in 20-80 gallons of water per acre.
