Remedy Herbicide
Remedy Herbicide
Remedy Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a emulsifiable concentrate that kills tough woody plants, annual and perennial broadleaf weeds such as black medic or sumac.
Using the active ingredient triclopyr 61.6%, this effective herbicide can be applied through various application methods like a foliar spray, basal bark application, cut stump application, or aerial broadcast application.
Once applied, Remedy Herbicide controls more than 35 different species of brush, as well as many broadleaf weeds from the top growth all the way to roots, thus improving the growth of grass.
Tools Needed
Remedy Herbicide can be applied with a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, vehicle mounted sprayer, or knapsack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Remedy Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet and multiply together (length X width = square footage). To do acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acreage). General broadleaf weed control will use 2 pints of Remedy Herbicide per 10 gallons of water per acre. For rangeland and permanent grass pastures, use 1-4 quarts of product per 100 gallons of water. Broadcast applications on Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) will use 1-2 pints or or up to 1 1/2 quarts of product per 10 gallons of water per acre for deep-rooted perennial broadleaf and susceptible woody species. On CRP acres, apply no more than 1 1/2 quarts/acre of product per growing season. Refer to the label for specific application rates.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer halfway with water, add measured amount of Remedy Herbicide, and pour remaining half of water into the tank. Close the spray tank lid and shake until solution is evenly mixed. If the mixture stands over 4 hours, reagitation is required.
- Step 3: As a foliar application, spray the top and bottom of foliage leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Basal bark applications, with a backpack or knapsack sprayer, spray the basal parts of the brush and tree trunks to a height of 12 to 15 inches from the ground in a manner which thoroughly wets the lower stem, including the root collar area, but not to the point of runoff. Cut stump treatments, with a backpack or knapsack sprayer, spray the sides of the stump and the outer portion of the cut surface, including the cambium until it thoroughly wets the stem and root collar area, but not to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Remedy Herbicide can be used on rangeland, permanent grass pastures, and conservation reserve program (CRP) acres, including fence rows and non-irrigation ditch banks within these areas.
Do not spray pastures containing desirable forbs, especially legumes such as clover, unless injury or loss of such plants can be tolerated.
This product may also not be applied directly to, or otherwise permit it to come into direct contact with cotton, grapes, peanuts, soybeans, tobacco, vegetable crops, flowers, citrus or other desirable broadleaf plants and do not permit spray mists containing it to drift onto them.
When to Use
For best results, foliar applications with Remedy Herbicide should be made when woody plants and weeds are actively growing.
For woody species, make applications after the rapid growth period of early spring when leaf tissue is fully expanded and terminal growth has slowed. Brush regrowth should be at least 4 ft. in height prior to treatment to ensure adequate foliage for herbicide absorption.
Safety Information
Remedy Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Wait until 24 hours have passed after application before allowing children and pets to enter treated areas.
Refer to the label for specific restrictions regarding grazing or harvesting green forage and dried forage for lactating dairy animals and other livestock as some grazing restrictions vary.
Special Considerations
Established grasses are tolerant to Remedy Herbicide, but newly seeded grasses may be injured until well established as indicated by tillering, development of secondary root system and vigorous growth. Do not reseed treated areas for a minimum of three weeks after treatment.
