Recognition Herbicide
Recognition Herbicide is an innovative post-emergent herbicide that offers exceptional control of broadleaf weeds and sedges. It can also be used as a transition aid in bermudagrass management, especially during renovation projects.
10/06/25
Recognition Herbicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a selective, post-emergent herbicide that offers unparalleled control over more than 40 weeds in warm-seasoned turf.
As a systemic herbicide, it is absorbed by the plant and moves throughout the tissue for complete weed eradication against weeds like clover, sedge, dandelion, and more.
Recognition Herbicide is a highly specialized water-dispersable granule herbicide that provides a unique solution for professionals managing warm-season turf. Its unparalleled safety on St. Augustinegrass, systemic activity, compatibility with tank mixes, and excellent transitioning capability make it a must-have for turf owners.
Tools Needed
It can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Recognition Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). For turf applications, apply 0.045 oz. of Recognition Herbicide per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For wider applications, use 1.95 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water per acre.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of product, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining amount of water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Wait at least 28 days before retreating the area. To reduce potential movement, water-in lightly 2-3 hours after application to remove product from turf foliage before resuming normal irrigation practices.
Where to Use
Recognition Herbicide can be used in established bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, buffalograss, St. Augustinegrass, and kikuyugrass grown on golf courses, sod farms, sports fields, residential lawns (except in California), and other non-residential turf including airports, cemeteries, commercial buildings, and similar sites.
Do not apply near sensitive desirable turf species such as ryegrass and bentgrass.
When to Use
Apply when weeds are actively growing on well-established turf.
Avoid applications when rainfall is expected to occur within the next 48 hours of application.
Safety Information
Recognition Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
Recognition may cause temporary discoloration and reduced growth rate on St. Augustinegrass and kikuyugrass.
Allow at least 3 weeks between last application and overseeding with cool season grasses for winter cover.
