Pylon Miticide Insecticide
Pylon Miticide Insecticide is a powerful professional insecticide that delivers long-lasting, targeted control of damaging greenhouse pests with proven reliability for ornamental crops and fruiting vegetable crops.
10/31/25
Pylon Miticide Insecticide, manufactured by BASF, is a broad-spectrum, cost-effective insecticide offering exceptional control of thrips (including Western flower and chilli thrips), caterpillars, mites, and foliar nematodes in greenhouse ornamentals and fruiting vegetable crops.
As the only registered product in the pyrrole class, Pylon Miticide Insecticide delivers fast-acting translaminar activity, rainfast protection within 60 minutes, and 14 to 21 days of residual control by disrupting pest energy production and causing mortality within 72 hours. Because of this, it’s highly effective against resistant pest populations.
Pylon Miticide Insecticide is a unique commercial greenhouse insecticide that provides dependable, fast-acting pest control, especially for pests like mites and thrips, which are notoriously hard to manage. It gives commercial plant growers confidence and control when pest pressure builds, especially in sensitive environments where every crop counts.
Tools Needed
You will need a hose-end sprayer or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Pylon Miticide Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the pest, apply 2.6 to 10 fl. oz. of Pylon Miticide Insecticide per 100 gallons of water for greenhouse ornamentals (non-food plants). To treat greenhouse fruiting vegetables, use 6.5 to 13 fl. oz. of product per 5 and 100 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of the leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Make two consecutive applications of this product within 5 to 7 days when under high mite pressure. For all other pests, make only one sequential application at 5- to 7-day intervals when necessary. Apply at least 5 to 7 days between each application.
Where to Use
Pylon Miticide Insecticide is only for use only on ornamental crops and fruiting vegetable crops grown in commercial greenhouses.
When to Use
With this product, you want to apply early for the best results.
Do not use on tomato varieties with a diameter of less than one inch when mature.

| Keith's Pro Tips | "Pylon is compatible with a wide range of spray products, but the full range of compatibilities under local conditions is not known. Therefore, before using Pylon in any tank mixture, the compatibility of the mixture must be established. Add proportionate amounts of each ingredient to a pint or quart jar. Cap, shake, and let set 15 minutes. Formation of precipitates that do not redisperse readily indicates an incompatible mixture and should not be used." |
