Protect DF Fungicide
Protect DF Fungicide
Protect DF Fungicide is an excellent systemic fungicide labeled for use as a spray application for the control of many common plant diseases and can be safely used on turf grasses and certain ornamentals and vegetable crops.
This formulation combines the potent active ingredient, Mancozeb, with a coordination product of Zinc Ion and Manganese. The result is an advanced fungicidal solution that targets and neutralizes a broad spectrum of fungal infections, ensuring your plants remain free from disease.
Protect DF Fungicide has high fungicidal activity and is safe on turfgrass and certain ornamentals. It can be used as a preventive measure at lower labeled rates or as a curative at higher labeled rates if diseases are already established.
Tools Needed
To use Protect DF Fungicide you will need either a hose-end sprayer, backpack sprayer, or handheld pump sprayer. To cover acres of treatment area, a spray rig or irrigation system may be needed.
How to Use
- Step1: Determine how much Protect DF Fungicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). You will use this to figure out how much product you need to apply. Depending on the disease you are treating, Protect DF Fungicide should be mixed at a rate between 4 to 8 ounces of product per 1 gallon of water.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer with half the required amount of water, then measure the correct amount of Protect DF Fungicide you will need. Add product into your sprayer, and agitate the mixture until the product is fully dispersed, then add the remaining amount of water. Close and shake once more to ensure an even distribution of product. Once the solution is fully mixed, you can add additional products like marking dyes or surfactants.
- Step 3: Apply the Protect DF Fungicide solution to the target areas as a fan-spray setting to ensure the foliage is evenly coated. Reapplication may be required to control severe cases of disease development and should be done within 14 days after initial treatment. Apply at 7-21 day intervals throughout the season as disease development conditions persist. Do not apply more than four applications of Protect DF Fungicide per year.
Where to Use
Protect DF Fungicide can be used on all fine turf applications such as industrial and municipal lawns, including office parks, sod farms, cemeteries, parks and golf course greens, tees, aprons, and fairways of cool- and warm-season grasses, and certain ornamentals and vegetable crops.
When to Use
Protect DF provides excellent protective activity and is most effective when applied prior to infection periods but can be used as a curative application at higher rates.
Safety Information
Protect DF Fungicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets into treatment areas until the product has dried completely. Do not use on pasture or range grasses. Do not graze treated areas. Do not feed clippings to livestock.
Special Considerations
Protect DF Fungicide is compatible with most commonly used pesticides. Do not combine Protect DF with other pesticides, surfactants, or fertilizers, unless your prior use has shown the combination is physically compatible

Keith's Pro Tips | "Fungicides demand a higher volume of water compared to herbicides, primarily due to the increased volume of plant material they need to treat. Achieving thorough coverage of foliage, especially in the inner layers of the canopy, necessitates a greater water volume. While using finer spray particles can aid coverage, this approach comes with risks related to potential drift and accelerated evaporation rates." |
