Prostar 70 WG Fungicide

ProStar 70 WG, manufactured by Bayer, is best known for consistently controlling fairy rings in preventative and curative measures. It is also very effective against many other types of fungal diseases in turfgrass and ornamental nurseries that may be at risk of infection.

Prostar 70 WG prevents turf grass fungi from growing normally and works systemically by penetrating host tissue. The formulation allows for a longer residual than the average contact fungicide and is safe to use on almost all cool and warm-season grasses.

Tools Needed

To use Prostar 70 WG Fungicide, you will need a hose-end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For small household jobs, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a hose-end sprayer.

How to Use

• Step 1: Mow your lawn before application. Determine how much Prostar 70 WG Fungicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). To treat turf, apply 1.5 to 4.5 oz. of Prostar 70 WG Fungicide in 2 to 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Mix Prostar 70 WG Fungicide with water into a sprayer of your choice. The amount of product to mix into the sprayer depends on the disease type you wish to control or prevent. 
• Step 3: Spray the fungicide evenly onto the plant's leaf, setting the sprayer to a fan spray setting for uniform coverage.
• Step 4: Reapply as needed every 2 to 3 weeks, depending on the disease and its severity, or for continued protection and fungus prevention.

Where to Use

Prostar 70 WG Fungicide can be used on turf in golf courses, sod farms, sports fields, and residential, institutional, municipal, and commercial areas. Container ornamentals can be treated in nurseries, greenhouses, and shade houses. It may also be used for field-grown ornamentals in nurseries and landscapes.

When to Use

Use this product upon first seeing a fungus or disease on your plants or as a preventative measure against disease during the growing season.

ProStar 70 WG Fungicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Keep people and pets out of treated areas until the spray has dried.
