Prostar 70 WG Fungicide
Prostar 70 WG Fungicide
ProStar 70 WG, manufactured by Bayer, is known best for its consistent control of fairy ring in both preventative and curative measures. It is also very effective on many other types of fungal diseases on turfgrass and ornamental nurseries that may be at risk of being infected.
Prostar 70 WG prevents turf grass fungi from growing normally and works systemically by penetrating host tissue. The formulation allows for a longer residual than the average contact fungicide and is safe to use on almost all cool and warm-season grasses.
Tools Needed
To use Prostar 70 WG Fungicide you will need either a hose end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig. For small household jobs, we recommend a handheld 1-gallon pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Mow your lawn prior to application.
- Step 2: Mix Prostar 70 WG Fungicide with water into a sprayer of your choice. The amount of product to mix into the sprayer depends on the disease type you wish to control/prevent and weather you want to apply a preventative dose or curative dose. The label contains the details but it can be anywhere from 1.5 oz to 4.5 oz per square feet. Agitate the mixture well.
- Step 3: Spray the fungicide evenly onto the leaf of the plant, placing the sprayer on a fan spray setting for uniform coverage.
- Step 4: Reapply as needed every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the disease and it's severity or for continued protection and fungus prevention.
Where to Use
Prostar 70 WG Fungicide can be used on residential and commercial turf, ornamentals, gardens, conifers, athletic fields and other applicable areas where there are fungal disease problems.
When to Use

Q:Coverage for three lbs?7/17/21A:The coverage rate depends upon what and how you're treating. We use it as a soil drench on specific perennials infected with Sclerotium rolfsii. Each drench application is anywhere from 1 to 3 qts of solution per plant (mixed at 1 tsp Prostar granules per gallon of water). When used this way - - 3 lbs of Prostar granules goes a LONG way and would go even further if applied at the preventive rate rather than the curative dose. Since we don't treat by square footage (only individual plants) it's difficult to translate our experience into a coverage rate. However, this is our fourth year of using our original 3 lb bottle and we've only used about one half of the product. At this rate I would estimate that our 3lbs will treat at least 1500 plants (at the stronger curative dose).
