ProSedge Selective Herbicide
ProSedge Selective Herbicide is a fast-acting, selective post-emergent herbicide designed to effectively control nutsedge and other tough broadleaf weeds without harming desirable turf, landscaped areas, and non-crop areas.
09/08/25
ProSedge Selective Herbicide, manufactured by Nufarm, is a highly effective post-emergent herbicide that targets stubborn broadleaf weeds and nutsedge with a rainfast, easy-to-use formula safe for cool- and warm-season turf and ornamental areas.
It works by disrupting the weeds’ ability to grow, eventually killing them all the way to the root while leaving your desirable turf and ornamentals unharmed. Once applied, it is rainfast in just four hours, meaning rainfall or irrigation won’t wash it away, ensuring long-lasting effectiveness.
ProSedge Selective Herbicide is an effective systemic herbicide that safely maintains lawns, woody ornamentals in landscaped areas, and non-crop areas. Whether you’re a lawn care pro or a homeowner tired of the same weeds coming back year after year, ProSedge gives you the upper hand where other products fall short.
Tools Needed
A handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig will be needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much ProSedge Selective Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot treatments, apply 0.03 ounce (0.9 gram) of ProSedge Selective Herbicide in 1 to 2 gallons of water to treat 1,000 square feet. To treat turf, mix 2/3 to 1 1/3 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-dissolved.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. A second application can be made 6 to 10 weeks after application. Delay irrigation for 2 to 3 days after application.
Where to Use
ProSedge Selective Herbicide can be used in turfgrasses (established lawns, ornamental turfgrass, landscaped areas, commercial and residential turfgrass), and other non-crop sites (including airports, cemeteries, fallow areas to establishment of turf grass, golf courses, landscaped areas, public recreation areas, residential property, roadsides, school grounds, sod or turf seed farms, sports fields, landscaped areas with established woody ornamentals, fairgrounds, race tracks, tennis courts, campgrounds and rights-of-way).
When to Use
Apply when weeds are actively growing, small (1 to 3 inches in height) on days when rainfall is not expected for at least 4 hours after application. Nutsedge plants are best controlled at the actively growing, 3- to 5-leaf stage.
Safety Information
ProSedge Selective Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets off treated areas until the spray solution has dried.
Special Considerations
For planting any plants, trees, or brush not provided for on this label, do a test for residual toxicity by planting material diagonally across the treated area before planting the entire area.
