Prodoxaben G Pre-Emergent Herbicide
Prodoxaben G Pre-Emergent Herbicide
Prodoxaben G, manufactured by Quali-Pro, is powered by the potent active ingredients prodiamine and isoxaben. This innovative formula controls over 150 different types of weeds and acts at the root level, inhibiting weed growth and preventing them from establishing a foothold in your green spaces.
This granular formulation allows for precise application, minimizing drift and maximizing coverage. Prodoxaben G provides visible results in just a few weeks, saving you time and effort.
Prodoxaben G has a selective action that ensures your desirable plants remain untouched, creating a striking contrast between your well-tended landscape and the invasive weeds.
Tools Needed
To apply Prodoxaben G for a small volume application, you can use a hand spreader. For large volume application, you can apply using a broadcast spreader or push spreader.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Prodoxaben G to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. You can do this by measuring the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). Depending on your turf species, you may be using anywhere from 2.3 to 4.6 pounds of Prodoxaben G per 1,000 sq. ft. or 100 to 200 pounds per acre.
- Step 2: Now that you have determined how much Prodoxaben G you will need, calibrate your spreader to the right spreader setting for application and load the appropriate amount of granules into the spreader. This product label states spreader settings for various spreader types. If your spreader is not listed, you can set the spreader to the low to mid range for even distribution.
- Step 3: Broadcast the Prodoxaben G uniformly using your spreader type. You may need to conduct 2 perpendicular passes to get uniform coverage. If any granules land on your driveway, sidewalk, or street, sweep the product back onto your lawn. Activate the granules by watering your lawn for 10 to 15 minutes after application. Reapply once every 5 months. In total 2 applications can be done as long as the maximum application rate is not exceeded for your turf species.
Where to Use
Use Prodoxaben G on established turfgrasses (excluding golf course putting greens), lawns and sod nurseries, ornamentals, non-crop areas including rights-of-way for transportation systems, and Christmas tree farms.
When to Use
Prodoxaben G is most commonly used as a soil application over plants that are already established, so it may not be the best option for plants that are still young. Refer to the label for proper application timings, as they can vary depending on the climate, targeted weed, and application method.
Safety Information
Prodoxaben G is safe to use around pets and children when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Keep children and pets off the treated area until product has dried. Do not graze or feed livestock forage cut from treated areas.
Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.
Special Considerations
Prodoxaben G will not control weeds that have already emerged and ideally should be applied before seeds start germinating for best results. To ensure even coverage be sure that you overlap the wheel marks of each pass.

Keith's Pro Tips | "For most broadleaf weeds, the best time to apply the product is in early spring. For grassy weeds, such as crabgrass, the best time to apply pre-emergent herbicide is in late spring or early summer. This is because these weeds germinate later in the season than other types of weeds." |
Product Drawbacks | This product is not intended for use in areas intended for crops and will not effectively control weeds that have germinated. |
