Probait Fire Ant Bait
Probait Fire Ant Bait
Probait Fire Ant Bait, manufactured by Zoecon, is a fast-acting ant bait that takes care of a variety of ants as a broadcast application or simply when applied around ant mounds.
This bait mimics the qualities of typical ant food and contains an attractant that ants cannot resist. Ants will carry the bait back to their nest to share among the colony and it will eventually get to the queen, resulting in entire colony elimination within 7 days.
Probait Fire Ant Bait provides residential and commercial areas results to local ant infestations, and other hard to control species such as argentine ants.
Tools Needed
To apply Probait Fire Ant Bait, you will need a granular spreader. A handheld or broadcast should work fine for smaller applications. This product can be applied as both a broadcast treatment and to individual mounds.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Probait Fire Ant Bait you will need by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). For individual ant mounds, use 2 to 5 level tablespoons of Probait Fire Ant Bait. To apply this product as a broadcast treatment to treat for imported and native fire ants as well as Harvester Ants, apply at the rate of 1 to 1.5 lbs. of product per acre, or 2 to 3 oz. of lb. per 5,000 square feet. For broadcast treatments against bigheaded ants and argentine ants, use 1 to 2 lbs. of product per acre or 2-4 oz. of product per 5,000 sq. ft.
- Step 2: To treat individual ant mounds, distribute the measured amount of Probait Fire Ant Bait evenly around the mound, but do not disturb it. To perform a broadcast application, spread half of the measured amount of Probait Fire Ant Bait in parallel lines once across your area, then broadcast the other half at a perpendicular angle to cover the area in its entirety.
- Step 3: Repeat application as needed.
Where to Use
Probait Fire Ant Bait can be used on lawns, landscaped areas, golf courses, commercial grounds, parks, other non-cropland areas such as airports, roadsides, cemeteries, commercial grounds, parks, school grounds, picnic grounds, athletic fields, and other recreational areas, as well as grounds surrounding poultry houses (excluding runs and ranges) or corrals and other animal holding areas.
When to Use
Apply Probait Fire Ant Bait when ants are active (typically when soil temperature is greater than 60º F).
Safety Information
Probait Fire Ant Bait is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Do not graze or feed treated lawn or sod clippings to livestock.
Keep children and pest away from treated areas until 24 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Probait Fire Ant Bait is effective on its own for outdoor ant control, but we recommend performing regular lawn maintenance such as mowing, pruning, raking fallen plant debris, and sealing outdoor cracks and crevices to eliminate conditions allowing the pest to thrive.
