Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide, manufactured by AMVAC, is a broad-spectrum insecticide/termiticide designed to effectively control termites as well as ants, cockroaches, ticks, and flies both indoors and outdoors.

This permethrin 25.6% product works by acting on the pest's sodium channels of the nerve axon membrane. Prelude will prolong sodium ion influx, resulting in an electrical imbalance leading to excessive and repetitive firing of the neurons. This disrupts normal nerve impulses leading to paralysis and eventually insect death.

Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide is a diverse and efficient insecticide/termiticides that will help control hard-to-kill pests like fleas as both a contact with residual control and as a chemical barrier in soil around wooden constructions against pests like subterranean termites.

Tools Needed

To apply Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide, you will need either a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, skid sprayer, or spray rig. For the control against termites and other wood-boring pests, you will need to use a type of subslab injection equipment and rodding equipment. For trench treatments, you will also need a type of shovel to dig up soil.

Do not use concentrate or emulsion in fogging equipment.

How to Use

reclaim it spiders application

  • Step 1: Determine how much Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the treatment areas length and width in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). To prepare a 0.50% water emulsion, dilute 2 gallons of Prelude Termiticide/Insecticide with 98 gallons of water. To prepare a 1% water emulsion, dilute 4 gallons of product with 98 galloons of water. For termite control operations requiring smaller volumes, use 2.6 fl. oz. of product per gallons of water to achieve a 0.50% concentration. To control termites at a higher volume level as a horizontal barrier, apply the 0.50% concentration at a rate of 1 gallon of product per 10 sq. ft. of dirt. If dirt is washed gravel or other coarse material, apply at a rate of 1.5 gallons of product per 10 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Pour 1/3 of the amount of water into the spray tank and then add the measured amount of Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide. Add the rest of the water into the spray tank, then agitate until solution is well-mixed.
  • Step 3: Apply the Prelude Inseticide/Termiticide solution to the desired areas as a fine low-pressure spray. For trench applications, dig around the structure no more than 6 inches wide and to a depth no more than 6 inches deep. The emulsion must be mixed with the soil as it is replaced in the trench. When treating crawlspaces, turn off the air circulation system of the structure until application has been completed and all termiticide has been absorbed by the soil. Barrier applications can be made by spraying along the outside foundation walls up to 4 feet and 10 feet out on soil surface. Treat landscape lawns and ornamental areas, by spraying the top and bottom of leaves until wet, but avoid direct applications to blooms.

Where to Use

spraying around exterior windows

Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide can be used indoors and outdoors of crawl spaces, monolithic slabs, along foundation walls, around pillars, slab-on-ground, basements, hallow masonry units of foundation walls, under slabs, behind veneers, piers (concrete or wood), chimney bases, into rubble foundations, into block voids, structural voids (i.e., between stud walls), poles, stumps, and wood in crawl spaces. It may also be used on foundations penetrate by utility services, cracks and expansion joints, bath traps, areas where cement constructions have been poured adjacent to the foundation such as stairs, patios and slab additions, posts, holes, and other constructions, structures with wells/cisterns inside foundations. Ornamentals and lawns in landscaped areas around residential, institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, parks, recreational areas and athletic fields may be treated with this product.

When to Use

Use Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide when pests or signs of their activity are witnessed. It may also be used as a preventative perimeter treatment in keeping pests out of homes and building structures before pests become active.

Do not apply this product when rainfall is expected to occur within 24 hours of application.

Safety Information

Prelude Insecticide/Termiticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
