Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide
Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide is a professional insect growth regulator that delivers excellent control over various pests on container ornamental plants by disrupting insect development.
11/04/25
Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide, manufactured by OHP, is a reliable insect growth regulator suspended concentrate that disrupts the reproduction and growth of immature stages of pests in container ornamental plants, ensuring applicators don't face future outbreaks.
Unlike many insecticides that focus on killing adult pests, Pedestal is designed to target immature stages and prevent insects from reaching adulthood. It contains novaluron, an insect growth regulator that disrupts chitin synthesis. Since insects need chitin to molt and grow, exposure to this product essentially locks them in their current stage, leading to death before they can reproduce. While it is not designed to control adult insects directly, Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide breaks the life cycle, so populations collapse over time.
Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide is a smart investment for any container and field-grown ornamentals, or tomatoes grown in greenhouses, and other sites, resulting in higher quality foliage and bloomage. It isn’t just another insecticide. It’s a cycle breaker, a resistance management tool, and a key player in sustainable greenhouse and nursery pest control.
Tools Needed
Apply by compressed air, hydraulic, groundboom or handheld sprayers.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For tomatoes in greenhouses, apply 9 to 12 fl. oz. of Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide per 50 to 100 gallons of water per acre. For ornamentals, use 6 to 8 fl. oz. of product per 100 gallons of water per acre. One gallon of finished spray will treat 200 sq. ft. of greenhouse bench area.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Reapplication on a 7-day interval may be required to protect fruit and foliage for tomatoes. For ornamentals, you can reapply on a 7 to 10 day interval or sooner. Do not make more than two applications of this product per crop per calendar year for ornamentals. Do not apply more than three applications per acre per calendar year for tomatoes.
Where to Use
Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide can be used on container and field grown ornamentals in greenhouses, shadehouses, nurseries, in addition on tomatoes grown in greenhouses.
When to Use
It works best as a preventive and early-stage curative treatment. Since it does not directly kill adult pests, it should be applied at the start of an infestation to prevent population buildup.
Avoid outdoor applications if rainfall is expected to occur within 48 hours of application.
Safety Information
Pedestal Novaluron IGR Insecticide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
