PBO-8 Synergist, manufactured by Zoecon, is a emulsifiable concentrate insecticide that can easily mix other insecticides or acaricides to treat pest infestations in residential dwellings or crops.

Formulated with the active ingredient piperonyl butoxide 91.3%, this product will work to block mixed-function oxidase enzymes, which insects use to metabolize an insecticides active ingredients. As a result, this active ingredient will prevent insects from breaking down other insecticides effects and allow the product to have more time to eliminate pests.

PBO-8 Synergist is an ideal resistant management tool when insects have become resistant to other insecticides and poses little risk to people and the environment.

Tools Needed

PBO-8 can be used as a ULV spray, in a ground equipment sprayer, power sprayer, fogger, chemigation, a contact spray using a hand-pump sprayer or input in an automatic misting system.

For chemigation application, you may only use the following types of sprinkler irrigation systems: center pivot, lateral move, end tow, side/wheel roll, traveler, big gun, solid set, or hand move.

Not for use in outdoor or indoor residential misting systems or evaporate cooling system.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much PBO-8 Synergist to use by determining which insecticide you will be tank mixing with and the location to be treated. Field and orchard crops will use 8 oz. of PBO-8 Synergist per acre or 0.2 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. Ornamentals, flowering plants, and foliage plants to be treated as a surface spray in a greenhouse setting apply 0.58 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. or 0.67 oz. of product per 10,000 cubic ft. as a greenhouse space spray. Prior to tank mixing, do a compatibility test at a rate of 2 to 8 oz. of product per acre, based on the amount of active ingredient.
• Step 2: To calculate the amount of insecticide to use you will need to understand most insecticides are synergized at a rate of 1 to 10 parts of PBO-8 Synergist active ingredient to 1 part insecticide active ingredient. Determine the amount of insecticide to use with this product in pounds, then multiply that by the ratio of this product desired (1 to 10). Then divide by 0.0625 (the amount of this product in pounds per fluid ounces). This will be the number of fluid ounces of product to use.
• Step 3: In the spray equipment of your choosing, mix the measured amount of selected insecticide and a portion of PBO-8 with fresh water. Application rates will be found on the insecticide label. The typical rate is between 0.35 to 2.10 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Check the label for detailed application instructions.
• Step 4: Mix well and spray the product on the desired surface or program your automatic misting system to conduct a spraying as usual, but not to the point of run-off or drip.

PBO-8 can be used indoors and outdoors on food crops, field and orchard, Hydroponically grown crops, greenhouses, root and tuber vegetables, leaves of root and tuber vegetables, bulb vegetables, leafy vegetables, brassica (cole) leafy vegetables, legume vegetables (succulent or dried), legume vegetable foliage, fruiting vegetables, cucurbit vegetables, citrus fruits, pome fruits, stone fruits, small fruits and berries, tree nuts, oriental vegetables, subtropical fruits, cereal grains, forage grains, fodder grains, straw of cereal grains, grasses for seed, forage, hay, non-grass animal feeds, herbs and spices, oilseed crops, additional crops, ornamentals, flowering plants, trees, shrubs, foliage plants, shade trees, forest trees, inside residential dwellings, indoors in commercial or institutional buildings including houses (indoor or outdoor), multiple unit housing, hotels, schools, restaurants, food processing facilities, food storage facilities, bakeries, healthcare facilities, warehouses, office buildings, factories, industrial facilities, food handling establishments, non food areas (garbage rooms, lavatories, entries and vestibules, offices, locker rooms, machine rooms, boiler rooms, garages, mop closets and storage (after canning or bottling)), storage areas containing food in impermeable bags, outdoor eating establishments, parks, landscape, turf, home exteriors, outdoor mechanical equipment, lawns, yards, golf courses, pet premises, livestock premises, dairy premises, poultry production facilities, and commercial animal premises.

Do not use in aircraft cabins, nurseries or rooms where infants, ill, or aged persons are confined, within 3 feet of air vents, air conditioner units, or windows.

When to Use

Use PBO-8 Synergist when there is an infestation of insects in a sensitive area like around your yard or other areas where toxic chemicals are discouraged. Apply on days when heavy rain is not expected for 24 hours following application or during rain.

Do not apply to cotton within 14 days of seed harvest, 30 days for post-harvest application to stored grain and seed, 7 days of post-harvest application to fruits, vegetables, and nuts, and 3 days for food crops grown outdoors or in greenhouses in agricultural settings.

Safety Information

PBO-8 Synergist is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.

Keep children, pets, birds, fish aquariums (covered), and other individuals out of the treatment area until aerosols, vapors, and/or mists have dispersed.

When used in dairy barns or facilities: Close milk bulk tank lids to prevent contamination from spray and from dead or falling insects. Remove or cover milking utensils before application. Wash teats of animals before milking.

Special Considerations

PBO-8 Synergist is to be used as an additive in insecticides and acaricides. This product has no insecticidal effect on its own.
