Pathway Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a excellent ready to use herbicide that controls most woody plants and ensures application safety with its included blue marking dye.

Its active ingredients picloram 5.4% and 2,4-D 20.9% inhibits the plant's growth system, leading to the gradual mishapen growth and death of unwanted vegetation such as alder, aspen, and oak.

Pathway Herbicide offers an effective solution for controlling a wide range of trees in various settings while minimizing harm to desirable plants and the environment.

Tools Needed

Pathway Herbicide can be applied directly from the container, a tree injection tool, or with a spray rig for large-scale applications.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Pathway Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For tree injection applications, use 1 milliliter of undiluted Pathway Herbicide solution through the bark completely around the tree trunk at intervals of 2 to 3 inches between edges of the injector wounds. For forest sites, use 4 gallons of product per acre. Refer the label for specific application rates.
  • Step 2: If you are treating areas as large as acre then load your spray rig according to its manual instructions.
  • Step 3: Make tree injections near ground level when using a tree injector or 2 to 4 feet above the ground when using a Hypohatchet Injector or similar device. For stump treatments, spray or paint the cut surfaces of freshly cut stumps and stubs with undiluted Pathway Herbicide. The cambium area next to the bark is the most vital area to wet.

Where to Use

Pathway Herbicide can be used on listed unwanted trees in forests and non-cropland areas such as fencerows, roadsides, and rights-of-way.

Do not apply this product within the root zone of desirable trees unless such injury can be tolerated.

When to Use

Treatments of Pathway Herbicide can be made in any season. Maples should not be treated during the spring sap flow.

Pathway Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
