Parazone 3SL Herbicide
Parazone 3SL Herbicide is a nonselective, contact herbicide that controls most small broadleaf and grass weeds and can also suppress perennial weeds.
The product is a restricted use pesticide so you will need a special applicator's license to even purchase the bait and use it.
Parazone 3SL Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is a contact herbicide that is formulated to target broadleaf and weeds that grow around crops.
This product is an outstanding tool against herbicide-resistant plants and is easy to mix and apply. When applied, Parazone is rapidly absorbed by green plant tissue and interferes with the photosynthesis process, producing superoxides that destroy the plant cells necessary for growth and development. Parazone can also be used in situations where you would like bare ground.
Parazone 3SL Herbicide is an effective contact herbicide that controls most small broadleaf weeds and grass plants, such as chickweed, spikeweed, and shepherd's purse.
Tools Needed
It can be applied using a hand-held or backpack sprayer for general applications. For large volume applications, you will need a professional skid sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Parazone 3SL you will need by measuring the size of the treatment area. To get square footage, measure the length and width of the area (in feet) and multiply the two values (length x width = square footage). To get acreage, take the square footage and divide by 43,560 (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = Acreage). Parazone 3SL can be mixed at a rate of 1.5 to 3 pints per acre in 10 to 30 gallons per acre or at 0.33 to 0.66 oz. per gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft. So for example, if you measured a 3,000 sq. ft. area to treat, you would need to mix 1 oz to 2 oz in 3 gallons of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with the required amount of water, then add the correct amount of Parazone 3SL based on your calculations. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining half of water and then add the appropriate amount of non-ionic surfactant to the solution. Close the sprayer and agitate it until the solution is completely dissolved.
- Step 3: Apply the product selectively to target plants. Put the sprayer in a fan spray setting for even coverage.
- Step 4: Check back in two weeks and reapply if necessary until the weed has died.
Where to Use
Parazone 3SL Herbicide is for use in crop areas for selective weed control and in non-crop areas such as rights-of-way, pipeline utility sites, storage areas, highways and many other non-crop sites.
When to Use
Apply when you have weed problems, particularly in the early spring when they are actively growing. You should also apply during a calm day to avoid drift during application.
Safety Information
Parazone 3SL is safe to use when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area for the next 24 hours after application.
Special Considerations
For broadcast application with backpack sprayers, do not exceed more than 0.50 lb. ai/A in a minimum of 30 gallons of spray solution per acre. It is important to always add a nonionic surfactant (NIS) or crop oil concentrate (COC) with Parazone 3SL. Otherwise, reduced activity of Parazone 3SL will result. Do not use around home gardens, schools, recreational parks, golf courses, or playgrounds.
