Orthene PCO Pellets, manufactured by Amavac, is a water-dispensable granule insecticide that kills a broad spectrum of pests, such as earwigs and pesticide-resistant pests like German cockroaches, in various industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings, such as hotels and stores.

These pre-measured packs contain acephate 97.4 %, which inhibits acetylcholinesterase and ultimately paralyzes the insect's nervous systems, leading to death.

Orthene PCO Pellets were uniquely designed to provide a long-term residual against many pests on tile, stainless steel, and other nonporous surfaces in sensitive areas like commercial kitchens.

Tools Needed

You will need a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.

How to Use

Spraying Orthene PCO indoor industrial building

  • Step 1: Determine the area to apply Orthene PCO Pellets, as this will determine the rate to use. Use Orthene PCO Pellets for residual pest control in the areas listed by application as a 0.75% or 1.0% spray. Use the 0.75% rate for control of light infestations on non-porous surfaces and the 1.0% spray to reduce heavy infestations. To achieve a 1/2% (0.5) concentration, mix 19.5 grams of Orthene PCO Pellets (or 1/2 packets) in 1 gallon of water. For a 3/4% (0.75) concentration, apply 29.3 grams (3/4 packets) of product in 1 gallon of water. For a 1% concentration, mix 39.0 grams (1 packet) of product in 1 gallon of water. For ant mound drench applications, dissolve 1 packet (1.4 oz.) of product in 9 gallons of water. Refer to the product label, as it will give specific concentration rates that can be used.
  • Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer tank with half the water, add the required amount of Orthene PCO Pellet (leave packet unopened), and pour in the remaining half of the water. Shake the sprayer tank until it is evenly mixed.
  • Step 3: After the pellets have completely dissolved and are mixed with the water, begin spraying areas where insects will travel. For perimeter treatments, spray a band of soil 6 to 10 ft. adjacent to the structure and 2 to 3 ft. up on the foundation. For an ant mound drench, apply 1 gallon of mixed Orthene PCO Pellets to each mound by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat a 4 ft. diameter circle around the mound. Do not treat a mound more than once per season. For spot applications in listed structures on this product label, adjust the sprayer to a fan setting, and then spray no more than 2 sq. ft. per individual spot treatment. Treat areas such as baseboards, under and behind refrigerators, stoves, dishwashing, and other equipment, as well as in storage areas, closets, sinks, cabinets, around windows, doors, and water pipes. Spot treatment should also include the underside of drawers, shelves, and other sites where cockroaches frequent or travel.

Where to Use

Orthene PCO Pellets can be used in industrial, institutional, and commercial buildings, including restaurants, warehouses, stores, hospitals, hotels, manufacturing plants, and ships. They can also be applied as a residual spray or with a paintbrush to surfaces of buildings, window frames, shutters, entryways, screens, eaves, patios, garages, carports, garbage areas, and other areas where these pests congregate.

It may be used in Federally Inspected Meat and Poultry Plants and places other than private residences where exposed food is held, processed, prepared, or served.

This product is not for indoor residential use. It is also not for use in feed processing areas in feed handling establishments.

When to Use

Apply Orthene PCO Pellets when facilities are closed and foods are not exposed in the treatment area. Spray this product when pest activity is first noticed.

When making outdoor applications, apply this product in the early morning or late afternoon when pests like ants are most active.

Safety Information

Orthene PCO Pellets are safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow children or pets to contact treated surfaces until sprays have dried.

Special Considerations

Orthene PCO Pellets may need 3 to 7 days to reach their maximum effect on cockroaches.

Do not apply this product directly to the carpet, as staining may occur. Do not treat unpainted masonry floors in poorly ventilated areas such as garages or basements, mainly where moisture or high humidity exists, since activity on porous surfaces may be limited.

Not for use on residential turf as a perimeter treatment.
