Orthene 97 Soluble Insecticide, manufactured by Amvac, is a professional insecticide that comes in a water-soluble formulation and provides reliable contact and systemic control of common plant damaging pests like aphids, thrips, whiteflies, beetles, plant bugs, stink bugs and Lepidopteran larvae.

The main active ingredient in this product is Acephate and it delivers a powerful one-two punch of contact and systemic activity. It rapidly penetrates plant tissue to reduce chances of washing away in rainfall or irrigation and provides up to three weeks of dependable residual control.

Use Orthene 97 Soluble Insecticide if you want to protect your trees, shrubs, ornamentals or crops from a wide variety of insects.

Tools Needed

To use Orthene 97 Soluble Insecticide you will need either a handheld pump sprayer for small spot treatments or a professional spraying rig for large-volume application.

Apply to cranberries only by sprinkler irrigation systems. Do not apply by chemigation to any other crop, or this crop using any other type of irrigation system.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Orthene 97 Soluble Insecticide you need by calculating the square footage or acreage of the area being treated. This can be done by measuring and then calculating the total length x width for square footage. For acreage, take the total square footage and divide by 43,560.  The application rate varies depending on the crop or area you wish to treat and can be anywhere between 4 to 16 oz. per acre in 10 to 200 gals of water. Check the label for specifics. Do not apply more than 2 1/8 lbs. of product per crop cycle.
  • Step 2: Fill the spray tank one-third to one-half full of clean water and then add the required amount of Orthene 97 insecticide to the tank. Agitate the sprayer well and you're ready to apply.
  • Step 3: Apply either via ground application making sure to get thorough coverage of the target crop. Apply as close to target plants as practical to obtain a good spray pattern for adequate coverage. Apply as needed every three weeks for continued control.

Where to Use

Orthene 97 can be applied on turfgrass, sod farms, golf courses, trees, and shrubs. It can also be used to protect crops and vegetables on farms. Check the label for the full list of approved areas to apply.

NOT for indoor residential use. For greenhouse use, use is limited to to commercial greenhouses for use on ornamental, floral and foliage plants and tobacco (floatbed application).

Not for use on agricultural establishments in hopper-box, planter-box, slurry box or other seed treatment applications at, or immediately before, planting.

When To Use

Apply Orthene 97 when there are plant damaging insects around your managed landscape or your agricultural crops.

Way beyond inpressed!its strong!!but it has roach killing power!!!
Yes sir!I have heard good things about this product.,I tried it out for my self with a 3 gallon pump sprayer, about 5 teaspoons.the product is in the form if small pellets,it does have a strong odor, after putting about 3tea spoons in my sprayer,I did a test of this product, it wiped out the infestation of roaches with just 2 sprays!!!!,let the windows up,the smell will leave..plus sprayed around my home, the smell lasted about 30 days,I was way beyond satisfied of it killing power, would recommend this product rather than calling a pest control,
