Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide

Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide, manufactured by PBI Gordon, is an easy-to-use post-emergent herbicide that manages grassy weeds growing among non-crop areas, flowers, shrubs, trees, and over 400 ornamental species.

This selective herbicide contains fluazifop‑P‑butyl, designed to stop grass growth within 48 hours and kill weeds in 1–3 weeks. What makes it special is its ability to be applied directly over a wide variety of landscape and nursery plants, offering precise grass control without damaging desirable vegetation.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot treatments, mix 2.5 fl. oz. of Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide with 1/3 fl. oz. of non-ionic surfactant per 1 gallon of water. To control bermudagrass in Zoysiagrass in late spring as a spot treatment, use 0.3 fl. oz. of product and 0.3 fl. oz. of non-ionic surfactant in 1 gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. This application should be made around June 1 and repeated at 28 to 30 days. To control bermudagrass in Zoysiagrass in mid-summer as a spot treatment, apply 0.4 fl. oz. of product and 0.3 fl. oz. of nonionic surfactant in one gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. To control bermudagrass in Zoysiagrass in late summer as a spot treatment, use 0.25 fl. oz. of product with 0.3 fl. oz. of nonionic surfactant in 1 gallon of water to treat 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed. 
• Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. 

Where to Use

Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide can be used in ornamentals, nurseries, and landscape areas.

Do not apply to ornamentals that may be harvested for food within one year after application.

When to Use

Apply when the grasses are actively growing on days when rainfall is not expected to occur within 1 hour of application.

Safety Information

Ornamec Over-The Top Grass Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Keep people and pets out of the treated area until 4 hours have passed after application.

Special Considerations

Application of this product may be made over-the-top to ornamentals listed in Table 1 on the product label. Plants listed in Tables 2 through 4 should have a directed spray applied to prevent contact of spray with foliage. If the growth habit of the plant or other factors do not allow a directed spray, an over-the-top application can be made to plants in Tables 2-4.
