Opensight Herbicide
Opensight Herbicide is a broad-spectrum herbicide offering pre- and post-emergent control over weeds and brush in rangelands, permanent grass pastures, and grazed areas.
12/19/25
Opensight Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is an economical herbicide that controls more than 170 broadleaf and woody plant species in non-cropland areas and other terrains.
Its active ingredients, work synergistically to target and eliminate invasive vegetation such as lambsquaters, sowthistle, and clover.
Opensight Herbicide is a convenient herbicide that provides broader control with less effort due to its wide application window and season-long residual.
Tools Needed
Opensight Herbicide can be applied with a backpack sprayer or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Opensight Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For general spot treatments, mix 2.5 oz for weeds and 3.3 oz for brush of Opensight Herbicide per 100 gallons of water. Refer the label for specific application rates. On all labeled use sites do not broadcast apply more than 3.3 ounce of product per acre per year.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Opensight Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Agitate the sprank tank until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Adjust the sprayer to a coarse low-pressure spray then uniformly cover foliage, but not to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Opensight Herbicide can be used on rangeland, permanent grass pastures, CRP acres, non-cropland areas including industrial sites, rights-of-way (such as roadsides, electric utility and communication transmission lines, pipelines, and railroads), non-irrigation ditch banks, natural areas (such as wildlife management areas, wildlife openings, wildlife habitats, recreation areas, campgrounds, trailheads and trails), and grazed areas in and around these sites without injury to most grasses.
It is permissible to treat non-irrigation ditch banks, seasonally dry wetlands (such as flood plains, deltas, marshes, swamps, or bogs), and transitional areas between upland and lowland sites only when dry. Opensight can be used up to the water’s edge.
Do not apply this product directly to water and take precautions to minimize overspray to open water when treating target vegetation in and around non-flowing, quiescent, or transient water.
When to Use
Apply Opensight Herbicide when weeds are less than 6 inches and actively growing.
Do not make applications when soil is frozen.
