OnyxPro Tree Insecticide
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide, manufactured by FMC Corporation, is a specialized emulsifiable concentrate that aids nursery growers and Christmas tree growers from a wide range of pests like bark beetles in outdoor ornamentals, lawns, and trees.
Formulated with the active ingredient bifenthrin 23.4%, this effective insecticide will cause pests that come into contact with the treated area to quickly perish. Once dried, this product will continue to repel pests such as clearwing moths and pine beetles for up to 4 weeks after application.
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide provides quick relief from wood-infesting pests at minimum use rates and offers versatile application as either a media drench or foliar spray.
Tools Needed
To apply OnyxPro Tree Insecticide, a hose-end sprayer, a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer or a skid sprayer is needed. OnyxPro can also be mixed with insect growth regulators to help gain control of a heavy infestation.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much OnyxPro Tree Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For foliar sprays to ornamentals and trees (including field and container grown), apply 0.04 to 0.32 fl. oz. of OnyxPro Tree Insecticide per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. or 1.8 to 14.4 fl. oz. of product per 100 gallons of water. So for example, if you had a 2,500 sq. ft. area to treat, you would need to mix 0.1 to 0.8 fl. oz. of OnyxPro in 2.5 gallons of water. For large volume applications, apply 1.8 to 14.4 fl. oz. per 100 gallons
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer tank with half the amount of water. Add the measured amount of OnyxPro Tree Insecticide based on your calculations and then add the remaining half of water. Agitate the sprayer until the solution is well mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the OnyxPro Tree Insecticide mixture preferably on a fan spray nozzle setting for uniform coverage. Spray to wet but just before the point of runoff.
Where to Use
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide is formulated for commercial non-food use in interiorscapes, lawns, and on outdoor ornamentals and trees (including field and container grown nursery stock, Christmas trees, plantscapes, lawns, trees and shrubs, golf courses, and sod farms).
When to Use
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide can be used when insect activity is observed on trees, plants, turfs and lawn. It can be applied as needed, but no more than every 7 days.
Safety Information
OnyxPro Tree Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets on treated areas until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
This is a restricted-use product. You need to be licensed to purchase and apply OnyxPro. OnyxPro Tree Insecticide can be mixed with other products such as insect growth regulators, and other aqueous carriers. Always read the label before making application, as the mix rate is determined by the area being treated and the type of application being made.
