Nitro-Phos Superturf Fertilizer, manufactured by Nitrophos, is specially formulated to give lawns and turf the nutrients they need to thrive during spring and summer months.
With its unique slow-release nitrogen formulation it will provide rich, long lasting color for up to 16 weeks and helps keep mowing to a minimum.
Nitro-Phos Superturf Fertilizer contains a blend of iron, extra magnesium, manganese, and zinc to promote a healthy root system for new and current growth during warm months. These excellent slow-release fertilizer gives all the strength your turf will need while keeping environmental concerns in mind.
Tools Needed
To apply Nitrophos Superturf Fertilizer, you will need either a hand spreader or push spreader. We recommend using a push rotary (broadcast) spreader to ensure you get even coverage over the turf. You will also need a scale to help you measure the correct amount of fertilizer in pounds, and a measuring tool to measure your turf area.
How to Use
- Step 1: First, measure the turf area you want to treat in square feet to determine the amount of fertilizer you will need. You can do this by multiplying the length and width of your lawn. The application rate for Nitro-Phos Superturf Fertilizer is 5 pounds per 1,000 square feet. For example, if your turf area measures 1,600 sq. ft., then you will need 8 pounds of fertilizer (5 lbs. x 1.6 sq. ft. = 8 lbs.) Be sure your spreader is properly calibrated. Refer to the label for calibration settings for most spreader types.
- Step 2: Before applying, be sure to mow the turf area 1 or 2 days beforehand and that the turf is dry. This will help the fertilizer granules fall down into the soil.
- Step 3: Load your spreader with the correct amount of fertilizer you need to treat your measured turf area. Start applying by walking around the perimeter of your turf area, being careful to minimize fertilizer being thrown onto concrete or non-turf areas. Once you have completed your perimeter application, continue your application by walking down the length of your turf area in a back-and-forth motion. Leave about 3 feet of space between each pass so that the fertilizer is broadcast to the wheelmarks of your previous pass. This will ensure even coverage.
- Step 4: Water lawn after application so that the granules will be washed off the grass blades and down to the soil. You will want to use at least an inch of water to ensure a thorough watering. You can also time your application at least 24 hours before rainfall.
