MSMA Target 6.6 Herbicide
MSMA Target 6.6 Herbicide
MSMA Target 6.6, manufactured by Luxembourg-Pamol, is a soluble liquid concentrate that is effective against various hard-to-kill weeds and grassy weeds such as barnyardgrass, including weeds that are glyphosate resistant.
This product is specially formulated to eliminate target weeds within 3 weeks after application with little to no injury to desired foliage. Particularly, MSMA Target 6.6 would be most useful against emerged grassy weeds as it will travel through the surface of the leaves then to the weeds roots to completely kill the targeted foliage.
Tools Needed
To use MSMA Target 6.6, you will need a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. For protection during application, you will need to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as coveralls, long-sleeved shirt, long-sleeve pants, chemical-resistant gloves, closed-toe shoes with socks, protective eyewear, chemical-resistant headgear, and safety mask.
You cannot apply this product with a hose-end sprayer/applicator or through a type of irrigation system.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much MSMA Target 6.6 to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the feet and width of the treatment area in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To find acreage, take your square footage and divide it by 43,560, which is one acre ( square footage / 43,560 = acreage). MSMA Target 6.6 can be applied at 2.5 pints per acre for cotton. You may add 6 pints of MSMA Target 6.6 and 1 to 2 quarts of surfactant to 100 gallons of water per acre. Do not apply more than a total of 4 lbs. of product per acre per season on cotton. For golf courses and sod farms, mow lawns to 1 to 1.5 inches high before treatment and apply 1 oz. of MSMA Target 6.6 and 0.5 oz. (1 tablespoon) of surfactant in 1 to 2.5 gallons of water and apply to 1,000 sq. ft. You may only perform a spot treatment on golf courses, unless it is newly constructed then you can use one broadcast application. For highway right of way, mix MSMA Target 6.6 at a rate of 3 to 6 pints, plus 1 to 2 quarts of surfactant in 100 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer halfway with water, then add the measured amount of MSMA Target 6.6 and surfactant, and add the remaining half of water. Close the lid to the sprayer and shake to ensure an even agitation.
- Step 3: Spray the mixture onto the foliage of the listed weeds, but not to the point of run-off. Reapply the treatment areas as listed on the label.
