Monument 75WG Herbicide
Monument 75WG Herbicide
Monument 75WG Herbicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is water disperable granule designed for the post-emergent control and some pre-emergent control of 40 types of broadleaf, sedge, and grass weeds in established warm-seasoned turf sites.
This broad-spectrum herbicide comes in the form of water-dispersible granules that must be thoroughly mixed in water and applied as a spray. Once mixed this herbicide removes cool-seasoned grasses from established warm-seasoned turf in both shoot and root uptake.
Monument 75WG Herbicide delivers broad-spectrum control in all seasons, including periods of extended cold temperatures. In the spring and summer, it controls all major sedges and summer annuals like crabgrass or dandelion. From late summer to early fall, it works best for bermudagrass clean-up. In the winter, it controls cool-season annuals such as poa annual, clover, or henbit.
Tools Needed
To use Monument 75WG Herbicide, you will need to use a backpack sprayer or hose sprayer.
This product requires the use of a nonionic surfactant like Alligare 90.
How to Use
- Step 1: Avoid mowing 1 to 2 days prior and after application of Monument 75WG Herbicide. Determine how much Monument 75WG Herbicide to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment site. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply (length X width = square footage). The spot application rate for Monument 75WG Herbicide is 0.5 grams of product per 2 gallons of water with 20 ml (2/3 oz.) of nonionic surfactant per 1,000 sq. ft. There is a maximum yearly application rate of 1.7 oz. of product per acre.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank halfway with clean water. Place approriate amount of Monument 75WG Herbicide in the spray tank, then pour in measured amount of Alligare 90. Fill the spray tank the rest of the way with remaining half of water and shake well to create even agitation.
- Step 3: Apply your mixed solution to the top and bottom of weed leaves on a fan-spray setting for best results. Avoid all contact with ornamental plants and other desired foliage. Once 3 hours have passed after application, water with light irrigation to remove product from turf foliage before resuming normal irrigation practices. You may need to reapply 4-6 weeks after your initial treatment for optimum weed control.
Where to Use
Use Monument 75WG Herbicide on bermudagrass, zoysiagrass, and buffalograss on golf courses, sod farms, sport fields, residential properties (except California) including home lawns, and other non-residential turf areas such as airports, cemeteries, commerical buildings, and similar sites.
This product may be applied to St. Augustine turf when grown for production of sod only.
Some ornamental plants are very sensitive to Monument 75WG Herbicide. Avoid applications to areas where product may accumulate under the drip line of trees and product may come into contact with roots of desirable plant or injury may occur.
When to Use
Use Monument 75WG when you notice weed growth on your turf or landscape. Apply on calm days when wind speeds are below 10 mph to prevent drift and when rain is not in the immediate forecast. Spraying works best when the soil is moist and weeds are actively growing.
Avoid applications when turfgrasses are under stress since injury may result.
Safety Information
Monument 75WG Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling or applying this product.
Do not enter or allow children, pets, and other individuals to enter the treated areas until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Do not use Monument 75WG Herbicide on turfgrasses other than what is mentioned on the product label or severe injury may result.
Monument 75WG Herbicide may cause temporary discoloration of St. Augustine and reduced growth rate.
This product can be tank mixed with Barricade 65WG for pre and post-emergent control of weeds in turf. For control of Poa annua in non-overseeded bermudagrass, apply Monument 75WG plus Barricade 65WG in the fall after the Poa annua has germinated, but before growth has slowed.
